I'm trying to see if I can make an "animal noise" mix from 90s jungle/drum & bass tunes. Anyone got any other recommendations besides the following? Especially ones with new or prominently featured animals.

  • Adam F - Sea of Destiny (Remix) - Jungle noises
  • Aphrodite - Cross Channel - Seagull noises
  • Amazon II - Deep in the Jungle - Jungle noises, crickets
  • Aquarius - Dolphin Tune - Dolphins
  • Bad Company UK - Miami Flashback - Seagull noises
  • Capone - Submerge - Dog growls
  • Capone - The Growler - Dog growls
  • Dillinja - Sky - Dog barks
  • Goldie - Angel - Whale noises
  • Goldie - Sea of Tears - Whale noises
  • Jonny L - Tychonic Cycle - **Seagull n

A lot of hip-hop beat makers are pissed off about people revealing their samples online, but it seems to be the only community I heard complaining about it. Is it a thing drum & bass producers have strong opinions on? And if so, do they care where (in a tracklist or comment on Discogs or YouTube vs. on WhoSampled)?

The WhoSampled database might be easier for copyright lawyers to troll, and beatmakers might have a higher profile than your average drum & bass producer, so there might be differences. I try to find the source of every sample I like and note them down in my collection (or tell people if they're interested), but I don't add them to WS, but the database is of course also useful, e

Three years ago, we created a list of the top 100 weird books, and since so much of weird literature is in the short form, I wondered if we should do another list, this time for short stories only (and maybe including short novellas, I'm not sure?).

Some problems that may arise are lack of participation versus lots of potential leading to many one-time entries, and an undue weight to Lovecraft and a handful of his contemporaries. There could be a variety of ways of doing this. You could ask for for maximum 2 entries per author for more variety, a minimum number of entries per post etc. Also

I've seen Lovecraft: Fear of the Unknown (2008) and Clark Ashton Smith: The Emperor of Dreams (2018). Are there any other documentaries worth watching?

As for YouTube videos/essays, a lot of them are AI voiced Wikipedia regurgitations or quick introductions. Deeper discussions about certain works or topics (like on Quinn's Ideas) seem to be harder to find. Any recommendations (videos/channels), especially for longer ones?

"Hey r/fillintheblank, can you tell me what subgenre this is? (link to definitely not my Soundcloud)"

Can we instate a rule that all of these post without the "Shameless self promotion" flair get deleted immediately? I've been seeing more and more of these, usually posted to a dozen music reddits with barely or no connection to the song in question, and if you mention that, OP gets outraged that you would ask about it.

I get it, people want others to listen to their songs, no matter how shitty, but the least they could do is to be open about it. I recommend mods to make a rule about this. The only problem I see is that the flair can only be added afterwards, so some newbies might not know
