In the very first episode in the historical society Tom says 42 passengers came to the island. Gerry corrects him saying it was 43. He says something like it’s not the time for THAT story.

I wonder is the curse due to someone who was brought to the island rather than it originating there.

We don’t know very much about the third floor, do we? Besides the fact there’s a second stairwell somewhere and of course the Red Room.

It stands to reason Poppy and Hazel might have lived on separate floors with their respective families.
