We are relocating from the US to UK. My husband is British. I'm dual Italian -American and my minor children are currently getting their stuff processed for their British citizenship.
We are moving to Cardiff which is cheaper than our very expensive area in the US, but still wrapping my brain around thing like council tax.
Husband will make 1400/wk. I won't be working. We do not want a car and we are picking a home accordingly. We are used to living frugally and will be saving a lot in daycare and healthcare costs.
We are going back and forth on what to spend for rent. We are looking to keep it low, but also want to be comfortable in the home (5 kids with us). My fear is I'm missing an

How hard is it to get a visitor visa? My husband is from Wales and we'd like to visit there. He is still British (just has a US green card) and does plan to work -- I obviously will not be. We want to take the entire family over to visit including my two adult (20/18) daughters. The 18yo will return in August for school in the US and the 20yo will be going on to Italy with me to do citizenship (and then after that processes go back to UK)

My husband adopted my minor children via a stepparent adoption - their birth certificates will be amended soon, but we have the adoption decree. We have one bio kid together so obviously he's easy! Can we do the MN1 forms while in the UK? I can't fi
I understand if this gets deleted, but I figure this subreddit will know best! We are relocating from the US to the UK and not taking furniture. We were quoted $600 for 4 boxes by shipping co's and some suggested using FedEx instead since we are taking as little as possible. It will mostly be momentos and board games (our family's major hobby). I'm not THAT sentimental so it won't be hard to really cut back to as little as possible. We have family over in the UK that is collecting kitchen stuff, furniture, etc. There will also be an IKEA in the city and lots of thrift stores.
I figure each of the kids should get a suitcase to check, carry-on, and personal bag so the majority of their wardr
We will have the summer to prepare (most of July off from responsibilities!) and hope to be in Cardiff, Wales by August.
My school aged children are 16, 13, 11, and 9. The 16yo was going an auto tech course in the US and the plan is to do the GCSE tests and go from there. He's autistic (Aspergers) so we are keeping it low key for this transition, though he's very excited.
The next kid is quite bright and motivated. He pulls straight As and perfect test scores and is part of the gifted program. He's kind of blah about his abilities but I don't want him completely overwhelmed.
The 11yo is very social and excited about being in a city compared to rural. The 9yo I'd love to put in Welsh spe
Hello!
I need to file a One and the Same Affidavit regarding my paternal grandmother's use of names - saying they're all her, basically.
I also need to do a Declaration of Descent.
I honestly have no idea what type of lawyer to contact, the time it might take, or where they're filed and google isn't being helpful.
Thanks in advance for any pointers!
I really like that MFP keeps track of a streak and noticed many other folks are proud of their streaks. The past couple of weeks have been more than challenging for me and I feel like I've lost a LOT of my mindfulness about food/body.
Sooo.. I saw an ad for a journal that's unlike other journals and decided to take the plunge. It's for 13 weeks (starts any day you want) and, honestly, it's just the thing I need not only for weight loss but the other areas of my life that need sprucing. I just finished a full year of college, while being a mom of seven and small business owner (which requires 24/7 on call) AND we find out THIS FRIDAY if we are moving to the UK (which we really hope to do!)
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4039491/ I'd love to get other thoughts.
I found the Isagenix study on women and IF/CR with a partial liquid diet http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3511220/ which sounded interesting, but the mouse one really got my attention since we often talk about spreading meals out vs. not and how our body uses those calories.
Our story as short as possible. Did K1 Fiance Visa to the US, been married a bit over two years, have 1 child together and currently in process of British husband doing a step-parent adoption in the US (we should have that resolved in a few weeks).
We would like to relocate to the UK and have lots of family in Wales. I'm eligible for Italian citizenship via ancestry, but the paperwork is turning into a nightmare so we want a Plan B. (Current plan is go to Italy in the summer and apply).
My husband has a job offer in the UK that will meet the requirements of the income required for sponsorship - 1 spouse, 5 children (32,000 is what I came up with?). Will a firm job offer take the place of
I know to some this sounds nuts, but I found someone in the past that I clicked great with (even my husband liked him!) and it was very helpful.
I'd prefer someone fetish/kink friendly because I like open chatting and, honestly, wearing corsets and a nice leather strap-on harness are part of my motivation (being brutally honest here!)
Would like daily checking in and someone focused on CICO, exercise (even just walking.. some form of movement), and being positive. I am getting into meditation and either do yoga (at home) or walk. I'm on a 33 day streak and want to shake it up a bit to keep dieting fatigue away as I go into my second month.
Please feel free to respond privately!
Hey, I bought the Zena brand shake from Walmart because it was the lowest calorie option, low sugar (1g, uses stevia), and had a variety of protein. I mostly use the shake when I want something sweet and low cal because I know it'll keep me full.
However.. my Walmart isn't carrying it and I found EAS lite (about the same calories) on sale and bought it via amazon. I just realized tonight - I haven't used it yet - it has fructose in it. I'm VERY concerned this is going to trigger major sugar cravings. I've been mostly sugar free (other than trace amounts) after doing whole9 to get jump started into it.
I'm on a 30 day streak of CICO. I have a very demanding job that at times means running o
I see lots of people say they can't afford to replace clothes they've outgrown, etc, and I'm still surprised at the number of friends I have that have NEVER gone to a Goodwill. I do get that some folks are skeeved by it and that's fine (though all the stuff is laundered - some incorrectly - they ruin lots of silk!).. but if you're not put off by that you MUST go shopping for some fun motivation!
Yesterday I went with my daughters (20 & 8), daughter's girlfriend (19), and my youngest son (1 - he was just happy to be tagging along and ate some yummy sushi with us). We had a blast and the girls were also very encouraging/fun with recommending clothes. I really haven't dropped sizes much, b
So I have a ton of friends who are now coaches with beachbody which is fine.. but I'm tired of being on guard with sales pitches. I don't like their shakes because their cals/etc are WAY too high for when I do an occasional shake (and, hey, I take a high quality vitamin plus vit D so don't care about their vitamin claims)..
But now I mentioned to one that I did my TDEE calculation and use my fitbit charge HR and MFP to watch CICO and she was like.. no, no... that's so tedious just do our 21 day cup things. I asked how it could tell the difference between higher cal protein like beef vs something like cod. She said it didn't matter for weight loss.
Geesh. I told her I'm on a shoestring budg
In the past I tried to do EVERYTHING right and then fizzled out. However, I would do gimmick diets that promised No Calorie Counting (WOOHOO!!) and then lose interest after the first two weeks when weight loss slowed (or stopped.. or worse..)
You guys were also help with the TDEE and deficit stuff. In the past I would have scoffed at a 2lb loss per week.. now I realize WHY that is a realistic goal and WHY it is a heck of a lot of work and nothing to scoff at!
I'm also very aware of the small variations that can make for a better meal and calorie day. For instance, I have a dressing I like that's 45 cal/serving. I was doing a homemade olive oil mix that was over 100 cal/serving.. but found
Step-parent adoption case on the grounds of abandonment. He hasn't visited in 3+ years and no phone/card contact - no presents (Christmas/bdays), no visits when kid had surgery, etc, etc. Wages garnished for child support years ago. His extended family also has no contact with the children.
I've been married 2+ years to current husband and children legally changed their surname last summer (same judge/court that'll hear the adoption stuff). Their bio dad didn't consent nor did he contest the surname change. We're expecting the same for the adoption. He lives a few states away.
