Afternoon all,
Currently a serving Sergeant in the Police and have been in for 5 and a bit years. I've got a 2:1 BSc that I completed in the job. Spent some years on CID and am looking to complete the PGDL and go towards a career as a Barrister.
Anybody here gone Police to legal practice?
Any views on how my experiance will help (or hinder) getting pupillage after the BPC are welcomed as are any general thoughts!
Thanks.
Good afternoon you lovely lot.
I've been fortunate enough to secure myself a place on the College of Policing Fast Track to Inspector scheme, starting in December 2023. I'm (as you can imagine) very excited.
I'm happy with where I'm at in my career, I've always known I wanted to go into leadership and drive the direction of the culture in Policing and I thought long and hard about going for the scheme as I recognise promotion closes other doors for you.
The scheme is going to be intense and I want to end up being the best Inspector I can be (in only 2 years from now !) so I've recently been reflecting on my time in the Police and what I need/want to develop in my own performance.
Unfortu
How does your force approach NIPs recieved whilst responding to jobs ? Do you have a particular procedure you follow ?
Any of you fine lot actually recieved your medal yet ?
We've been told we will get it but they've no idea when...
A question for all you reg wizards
Coming off the last night into first RD, go past 0800. Obviously claim 4 hours at 1.5x
But what if I put it in for TOIL instead of payment. Will I just get 4 hours TOIL or will I actually get 6 ?
Thanks !
Working through Blackstones and I have some confusion.
Crime 1.2.8 pg 12 discusses principals and accessories. I understand aid/abet/council and procure and such in isolation. However I don't understand it in relation to 1.3.2 pg 16 which talks about separate offences for encouraging or assisting crime.
Am I right in thinking that to be an accessory (in any way) the principal must have actually completed the offence in question.
Thus, you couldn't be charged with aid/abet/council/procure if there was no completion by a principal.
And then the encouraging or assisting crime offences are for when an offence is not completed, or even endeavoured upon by a principal ?
Thanks for the support
Is it possible to arrange to do a couple shifts on a Met response team ?
Who would I contact to square this away?
In my force only advanced drivers can drive unmarked vehicles on blues.
Is this a national position as I can docs anything in the APP to suggest you need ADV for unmarked.
Does your force allow for STD driving of unmarked vehicles ?
It seems now more than ever the Police are under intense scrutiny.
I'm so sick and tired of hearing that the Police is institutionally racist and also individual officers are racists or bigots or an "ist" of some description.
Of course, some officers, the vast minority, do commit serious gross misconduct and I'm glad they get discovered and face appropriate sanction.
But I feel the public dislike us now more than every, that the IOPC are trying to get us all the time and that even (I know this is just for me) but that local supervision will do your legs.
I'm entirely done with proactive work, I've been told before ,by a fed rep no less, that the sad state of situation means that the mo
I've been finding more and more recently, across multiple different sites that hospital staff are becoming increasingly hostile to our presence and decisions, particularly surrounding UoF on S.163 watches or regular old custody watches.
Have any of you noticed this in recent times or have any intresting/funny stories of this?
So, I had a little debate with a colleague who was very annoyed with an encounter they had.
They have come in for shift change over (response) and a friend of theirs from the prior shift has given them vehicle keys.
This officer is a basic driver and was single crewed. There were then no other keys available.
An officer on their shift (standard driver) has then come up to them and asked for the keys as they are graded and he is not.
My colleague has refused and it has effectively turned into an argument, with my basic grade colleague keeping the keys.
Personally for me, I think its just obvious that the higher your driving grade, the more valid claim to keys you have and you should be a
