A couple weeks ago I put out a call for new moderators and received an amazing number of responses. It's great to see the outpouring of support our community has, and the willingness of so many people to pitch in and make the subreddit great.

#Please join me in welcoming u/ThickFeltedKirby, u/evilninjaduckie, and r/that7125artist as moderators of r/UnearthedArcana!

Each of these great folks has been part of our community for some time, participating in various ways from offering homebrew critique, reporting potentially-rule-breaking comments/posts, and of course sharing their own personal creations!

I'm very excited to have them

Hey everyone, you may or may not have noticed, but for the past 6 months, I’ve been moderating this subreddit alone. With a full-time job and other obligations, it’s been skeleton crew work, so pretty much just responding to user reports and messages. Well I’ve finally found time for this announcement.

r/UnearthedArcana is looking for enthusiastic folks to join the moderation team! If you want to help keep the subreddit running and you have some spare time, please get in touch.

#What do the mods do?

Moderators like yours truly are volunteers that answer questions from new users, enforce the subreddit's rule, and help

If you missed the announcement on October 21, you can find it here. TL:DR is that community sentiment has changed, and effective December 1, using AI to generate text or art is banned from r/UnearthedArcana.

This rules change does not apply retroactively, so old posts that use AI art will remain up (using AI to generate text has always been banned). The use of AI in creative works is a complex topic, with many factors to consider. As with other rules, we’ll continue to revisit them and consider changes in the future.

The former “Acceptable AI Use” rule has been replaced with the

What do you think?

For me, I'm happy to have Navigator's Tools help with plotting a course and such. I assume individual activity on a vehicle with me governed by other tools/skills (like controlling draft animals being Animal Handling, and moving stuff on a ship being Athletics).

How did/does your table use vehicle proficiency?

Cleave, Push, Sap, Slow, Topple, and Vex—all of these require you to hit a creature with the weapon.

But Slow and Vex specifically require you to hit a creature with the weapon and deal damage to it.

The obvious assumption is that this is to prevent triggering against a creature with Immunity to the attack's damage, but then why can Sap (which give the creature Disadvantage on its next attack) still affect an Immune creature?

Do you think this is a balance mechanism?

Thank you to the more than 1,000 users of r/UnearthedArcana who contributed their input and feedback on the future of AI use on the subreddit. This is more responses than we’ve ever received for our other surveys!

The use of AI in creative works is a complex topic, with many factors to consider. The moderation team has taken the time to analyze the survey results, the comments provided, and other information to determine how AI can and cannot be used on the subreddit going forward. As with other rules, we’ll continue to revisit them and consider changes in the future.

To summarize the details below, we are introducing a new rule that collects all the information a user needs to know about

Hello everyone,

After four days of the subreddit being Private as part of ongoing blackouts across Reddit, r/UnearthedArcana has re-opened.

If you don't know what's going on, here's a bit of an overview: Why The Blackout's Happening- From The Beginning.

We continue to support ongoing blackouts for this important issue, which affects not only users but also volunteer mod teams across Reddit, particularly for our related subreddits like r/DnD and r/dndnext. The r/UA mod team is still worried about the future of the tools we use to make moderating the subreddit manageable, such our u/unearthedarcana_bot, r/Toolbox, and more.

We know that no decision we make will p
