One of the most satisfying pieces of music I've ever heard. I can't even count how many times the key seamlessly modulates, I didn't even notice on first listen (to be fair I was fucking blitzed at the time lol). Dennis is just so brilliant, though I imagine Brian was right next to him as the song was written.

My favorite part(s) are the birds' response to Dennis' request for them to sing a song where they do the little "na na na na na na" counterpoint.

I also think the chord resolution at "gave me one loving look and told me not to worry about my liiiiiife" is just sublime.

Friends as a whole marries simple and wholesome subject matter with deceptively complex and nuanced arrangements

Just a friendly lurker here.

I don't have schizophrenia; my struggle has been with major bipolar depression, though that's not really what I'm here to say. For the past half a year or so I've been subbed here, initially out of sheer curiosity. I've always had a fascination with mental illness, and I think that one can best cultivate understanding and empathy by hearing what people of different walks or plights have to say. (this understanding, I believe, is the cure to all kinds of unwarranted social stigma and prejudice)

I'm sure many of you have struggled with self hatred---I'm sure many of you still do. Not everyone's mind is nice to them; sometimes my mind can be a cruel and scary plac

So in the outro when Rieley and Parks are singing, who's the third person who comes in singing "Oh lord I lay me down, my branches to the ground?"

Can't tell if it's Al or Carl or Brian.

That's all lol, don't upvote this shit

Edit: after carefully parsing your responses, I've come to the conclusion that it is John Stamos singing that part. Thanks for your participation.

Is maybe the coolest AC song. It's absolutely bristling with primal blood-red electric sinister bad-trip energy.

That guitar tone at 1:22 is so other-worldly (if anyone has any clue how Avey achieves it let me know).

The vocal melody by itself is so light and major-key but sounds so evil in conjunction with the music.

Panda's a fucking caveman on the drums, I think this song might be his best performance.

I think the idea of having a conversation with the Light in the curtain is so clever.

Such a great song. If they play it on their upcoming tour I'll shit myself; them playing Native Belle so true to the original gives me hope.

That is all.

I love bands like AC that have a deep, living and sprawling discography. There's nothing more satisfying than taking a deep dive and peeling back all the layers of discovery. I've found similar gratification with Bowie, Guided by Voices, Autechre and Stereolab, but I'm always looking for more!

What other bands have offered you guys this experience?
