I can live without my home increasing $200k a year, if I sell and move to another part of the Bay, or California for that matter, everything is going up so it's not like I'm going to pocket a lot of profit.

I'm tired of trying to find parking in hiking areas and giving up and going home, fighting through the trafic on the way to work, or having to reserve a campsite within 50 miles of my home 6 months in advance. So, if people want to leave, fantastic. We'll be fine.

I'm about to start putting a chassis into my Graflex. I got into this hobby because I love Star Wars and lighsabers are iconic. I could probably buy what I want, but I wanted to make this a hobby and construct them.

For those who have instrumented/or even machined and instrumented their sabers:

  1. What was the most challenging part?

  2. What was the most satisfying element of building your saber?

  3. What was the easiest part (not including putting the blade in the end)?

On Facebood VV recently mentioned that they just shipped the 1st run of the Promethian from 4/22, so is leadtime really 12 months? Is that everyone else's experience? Maybe the Promethian is an exception...

I've asked, and received input from r/legal, but I wanted to check here as well.

I was sick several months ago and the first hospital I went to sent me to a much larger hospital on a helicopter. My insurance does not want to cover it saying they should have drove me via ambulance to a closer hospital.

The helicopter company is asking me to sign a form for them to act in my stead in appealing to the insurance company. I though they could obtain my record from the 1st hospital to show the reason the doctor shipped me out on a helicopter, but I may be wrong.

Should I sign such a thing? I was in and out of consciousness when my wife and brother drove me

Any recommendations on repairing a vintage Omega Speedmaster Moon Watch? Also what should I expect to pay? Anything to avoid? I'd need to mail it Omega's facility. Any concerns with this? It makes me a little nervous. Thanks.

With the latest court ruling, I assume we can not buy ammunition without the background check and just buy it. I'm in CA and if I buy online what is the process? Does it need to be shipped to a dealer or can it be shipped to my home?

An avid hunter and friend of mine suggested I purchase a gun to get on the CA database so I can purchase ammunition for my other guns. Otherwise is takes forever for them to approve a registration for an existing firearm. I haven't purchased ammunition since the law was passed. I'm looking at the Glock 17. It's not too expensive and seems to be used by a wide variety of law enforcement. Anyone have one? What's your opinion? What do you like/dislike about it?

Liberal Telework Policy Regarding Coronavirus

As the situation with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to evolve, we want to reiterate that the protection and care of the NASA family is our top priority. As such, we want to provide an update on new specific actions being taken to help keep us safe at Ames.

Telework Policy

Currently, the Center remains open and without access restrictions (except for employees who have returned in the last 14 days from the areas of major concern).

Given the current situation, the Center is authorizing a liberal telework policy for employees until further notice. Teleworkers should be prepared to work from home and must coordin

I'm in California and looking for an engineer. I had to read California's Department of Fair Employment and Housing doc. DFEH-E06P-ENG/May 2017, " Employment Inquiries: What Can Employers Ask Applicants and Employees?"

One line of it states, "Employers also may not inquire into citizenship status before making an offer of employment, unless U.S. citizenship is a legal job requirement." I assumed citizenship status was needed for any job. If not a citizen, then proof of a green card or work VISA, but it would start with an inquiry regarding citizenship. I guess you can use E-verify.
