I was in a dicussion about chinese high-speed rail today. Someone claimed that a friend of them traveled to China a few years ago and said that common local people can't really afford high-speed rail, only richer buisness people, etc...

I think this is false information, but I don't really have sources on that.

So, how affordable is high-speed rail in China for local chinese people? Does anyone hve sources on that?

What's the best way for a westerner (fluid in english and german) to learn chinese?

I've been doing Duolingo for a while, but I feel it doesn't actually teach you the language, only how to say certain phrases.

Do you have any recommendations for apps, websites, youtube videos / channels or books?

Hello.

I was looking into Nebo for my Surface Go 3, since it looks very promising.

So I got it and quickly installed it. No problem. But when I open it, there are 4 pages of info before you can start notetaking (which includes sign in for cloud, etc...). The third page of which doesn't load and it doesn't let me continue into the app. I tried reinstalling it several times.

My specific specs on the Surface Go 3 are: 8GB Ram, Intel i3 processor, windows 11

I can't find anything related to it on the internet. I would be really glad if someone here could help me out. Thanks!

"Lunar Magic" (UA) Sorcerer Subclass

Need Advice: Rules & Mechanics

Hello.

My players and I are currently preparing for our new campaign. One of them wanted to play a sorcerer and a moon themed character. She stumbled upon the Lunar Magic subclass for Sorcerer from Unearthed Arcana 81 on Wikidot. I looked over that subclass and I really like the concept, so does she. But I think that it's really powerful, quite probably too powerful. My problem is with the "Lunar Embodiement" feature at level 1. You essentially get to pick a moon phase every day and depending on your level, you get 1-5 spells as an expanded spell list. That part is quite okay. However, the following part seems too powerful to me:

" While in the chosen phase, spells of the associated phas

Bladesinger / Fighter

Character Building

I'm trying to build a somewhat min-maxed bladesinger wizard, and I was wondering if this multiclass is a valid option for a strong character. I was thinking about going 18 lvls wizard (bladesinger), so that I still have signature spells and a 9th lvl slot. The other two lvls I would dip into fighter, to get a fighting style (either Dueling or Defense) and mainly Action Surge. I'd probably go 2 wizard, 1 fighter, 4 wizard, 1 fighter, 12 wizard (but this is not fixated yet). Do you think, this would be a good option for a fairly min-maxed bladesinger?

(Note: I don't really have any experience with min-maxing, that's why I'm asking. On paper, this build looks good to me.)

Hello. I'm a GM, and me and my friends would like to try out CoC for Halloween this year. We've never played CoC before, but we have lots of experience with D&D, so we're not new to TTRPGs.

My question is: What would be a good scenario to run for a Halloween One-Shot?

I'm searching for a scenario that can be completed in 3-5 hours and that's properly scary. A good Lovecraftian tale for Halloween. I already own the Investigator's Handbook and Keeper's Guide.

Edit: Thank you all for your answers. This community is really helpful and I look forward to joining it. After long deliberation, I've set on "Dead Light" for my Halloween Scenario this year. Thanks to the people that recommended

What class and subclass (outside of divination wizard) would work great lore and gameplay wise for a divination-based character?

I don't want a wizard, since im looking for a more spiritual character.
