I am learning front end. Halfway through a Jon Duckett book and am seeking fun, simple or complex websites that are great examples of:

Forms, images, flash, audio, video, etc.

I’m still new, so I’m not going to be able to extract as much from anything not html/css/JavaScript, but I was curious if you had any pages to share. I would like to be inspired so that when I am finally ready to build my own portfolio website, I can see what people do with iframes, forms, etc.

Sorry if this isn’t the place to post this!

Edit: ANSWERED thank you all so much for your insight! I feel that much closer to creating my first website.

Additionally, the website might have a form for something simple such as “how did you hear about us?” Or “tell us how we can improve and get a $5 coupon emailed to you!”

Do SSL’s improve one’s website in the eyes of search engines, or would it only be necessary for full security?

Hi all! I’m slowly learning HTML, CSS, and eventually JavaScript in my journey of learning programming.

I was reading an article on Medium, though unfortunately it’s disconnected from the beginner and has an implied nature that the reader knows what they’re doing already. I was hoping to learn a little bit about testing, see which languages it’s for, and if possible, apply it to front end web development before I get too in depth with jquery and JS as a whole.

Any resources would also be appreciated.

I just moved into a new apartment this month. My roommate and I barely know each other, but we’re cool. It’s just the $800 before utilities and Comcast is higher than any bill I’ve ever paid before. At 27 I feel a little behind, but I’m also not sipping tea with Elon Musk, so I oft get caught between unrealistic expectations and belittling my own accomplishments.

I’ve learned a lot in the past couple years. Got dumped by somebody I became obsessed with (only after the breakup), and hated who I was so much that I wanted to end it all. It has been very difficult not having all the answers, not acting the right way, and being aware at how selfish I was for not getting who I wanted. What at one

Edit 1: I cross posted this from webdev after reading about this subreddit on Medium.

Edit 2: I’ve checked the FAQ and look forward to using some of the resources, however I am also seeking physical books to read and not just online resources, as great as they may be. If they are free and updated then by all means please send resources. I just think I should read a book going through all the meta <head> and <body> tags, styling until almost beyond intermediate, and F.E. JavaScript leading up to PHP and other (coding/)skills required to build a functioning, responsive website for you and for others. The below was written yesterday. Thanks in advance!!!

To my knowledge, I should focus on responsive web design, since nowadays a website should look good on all platforms... generally speaking.

I am self-taught and have found online tutorials to be limiting in that books truly break through to me. I am seeking a book that covers contemporary HTML(5), since learning even about 2015 html, css, and jquery/JavaScript has left me dependent on tutorials and copy pasta, and practically clueless for when the push comes to shove.

I am looking for inexpensive, good quality books for CSS3 that covers the whole she-bang —> declarations, ways to understand the basics (I still don’t know how to perfectly place something on a page, though I gather it’s h

I have two goals that immediately come to mind:

  1. Get my own website up and running? And
  2. Begin making websites for other people.

I was thinking to just get a cheap go daddy account so I can go through the motions of having a website available for viewing, but I was wondering if anybody had any resources for a DIY server, and any input provided on the idea as well.

I don’t know the difference between static and dynamic pages. What I know is that I built a Linux Desktop this year and have been itching to find a reason to use it — and get into Linux.

While I know hosting small business websites on a home server isn’t a good idea (unless one had an extremely good idea of what they were d

For instance, I was just reading an article on Reddit of a young man who is a registered sex offender, even though it was a poor decision by the judge more than anything else (the girl lied about her age but she and her mom both stuck up for the boy in court).

Story is a few years older now I believe, and was in the Midwest where I live in the northeast.

I was tossing and turning feeling a little helpless and thought to write this.

We need to better utilize our technology.
