I had the 2013 version of FFVII on Steam, and so got the 2026 version for free when it released (though I haven't booted it up at all). I've messed around with the 7th Heaven mod suite on the 2013 version before, and I know it's working for the rerelease now, but is there one that might be better? Does one have inherent features or changes another doesn't, or does it simply come down to personal preference? Anyone have experience with one or both of them?

As Pat has been Staring At the Kingdom Hearts series, I, too, was compelled to start up a series playthrough since I had gotten it on Steam when it finally released on PC. I was able to push past Pat's progress in KH2, and I was excited to replay KH "Days" through the melonmix, a DS emulated version crafted to make a single-screen experience out of the game, which also adds better textures for the DS models, and replaces the cutscenes with their HD cutscenes from the HD Remix's movie version. After playing through the game, I was also then interested in watching the movie again, wondering just how much of my playtime it glosses over.

...an older Riku?

Can't just put a spoiler in the title, so...

I could've sworn I heard this somewhere, maybe even here, but now I can't quite find anything about it, that Nomura said Ansem in KH1 looks like what Riku would look like when he was older, because he took over Riku's body. I know people generally point out how he looks like an older Terranort, but the hair also doesn't quite match up between Terranort and Ansem, SoD other than the three swoops they have.

So, was this ever true, and if so, where was it confirmed?

Was it something from earlier, before more recent revelations showed us that he was a young Xehanort to effectively retcon that detail?

Or am I just going nuts?

Something fascinating I learned about a while ago was that playing Tetris after a traumatic event could prevent it from negatively impacting a person's mental health. I have anxiety and oftentimes when I have nightmares, getting back to sleep is really difficult because my mind is racing, locked in on whatever unpleasantness my dreams cooked up. I get stuck in a spiral trying not to think about it, thinking about it, trying not to think about it, and on and on. It sucks! But then a bit ago I remembered what I had heard about Tetris, and so I booted up Tetris and just vibed with it. I was able to just get tired again and fall asleep, didn't

I've been trying to keep track of earlier history in the KH universe, and I'm running into some "contradictions" that I'm not sure where I'm getting things misaligned. I'll bold the particular sticking points amidst the context...

  1. The Master of Masters comes from earlier in the Age of Fairy Tales (which is also when KHUx takes place, correct?), where he witnessed the Keyblade War fought against Darkness (the primordial Darknesses, yes?), and saw a lot of people he cared about taken by the darkness, and then he escaped to Daybreak Town. But wasn't the keyblade war in Union the first keyblade war? Since the one fought at the end of KH3 is designated as the "second keyblade

Tl;dr/w - "dev" that has seemingly never made a damn thing in his life gets a kickstarter funded for a game with stolen assets, and might be using the money to pay back refunds to customers he cheated.

This video goes into the details proper. But here are the notable takeaways...

  • Niko, a "dev" in the KH modding scene, takes on a bunch of commissions, but almost never fulfills them. He also promised a bunch of different previous projects that went nowhere
  • The one person who did get their commission, received a shoddy custom model, which they had to help Niko finish by grabbing a shoe model in a CG model database because Niko "is bad at shoe

Titles in media that don't imply their content

Calling your demon waifu story "Actuary's Legacy" or something

So my wife has been watching an anime called My Happy Marriage, which seemed like a romance story set in Meiji era Japan, until I glanced over during a scene and saw this behanded chicken demon. Apparently, despite the quaint name there's mysticism and demons, and the main characters are part of a small group of magicked people, so the undercurrent of the restoration era includes the suppression of magic. Seems like you can't judge a book by its title, either!

What other media have titles that don't convey the material within? Because I love that stuff.
