As we know, Ontario's population is growing pretty quickly. Back in the 2021 census, our population was 14,223,942. At current, the official population clock has us at 15,891,411 - or just about to become 16 million as start 2024.
New York State's population is estimated to be 19,571,216 as of 2023. Our neighbours are actually declining in population, roughly losing 100,000 people a year.
Has there been any projections when we will overtake New York State's population? We know that our growth rate will slow post-Covid inflows and international student booms but we're still growing quickly.
As a note, I'm hoping this thread won't become a debate on our broader immigration program.
