Salve,

A insti

Ovviamente pago (50€ vanno bene?).

I writed a post about a job position for HPC about a week ago.

Now, i had the call and everything went smoothly. I explain that i use linux in my PC for many years, but i don't know anything about linux system administration, but i'm open to learn. The HR tell to me that the people work for this company also sometimes build and touch the hardware, like mount a rack.

Hi,

I'm a freshly graduate in applied math. I take this route because I'm interested in parallel/distributed computing for simulations. Now i sent an application to a company that does HPC consultancy and they reply me for a brief meeting. So they search HPC sysadmin, engineer etc.. but what i did during my degree is only use the HPC for scientific simulation, so i know OpenMP, MPI, CUDA and SLURM scheduler, nothing so much about the IT part of supercomputer (e.g. Networking, Security ...). Maybe the HR ask me if i know some IT knowledge, and that's ok, i will answer that i currently learning it (that it's true). But i want a real study plan, like certification or other stuff that can be us

Richiesta Consiglio

Salve a tutti,

M28 laureato STEM.

Hi all,

After building a toy database in Rust, I'm now designing a distributed query engine and have a core question about async programming.

My plan is to use Go for the high-level scheduler and either Rust or Zig for the low-level "executor" component, which will be called from Go. The executor's main job will be handling I/O-heavy tasks like reading data and running query fragments.

Given the async nature of this work, I need to understand the trade-offs between Rust's and Zig's async models for this specific use case. I know that async in Zig is still evolving per the roadmap, but I'm interested in the long term.

I'm especially interested in two things:

What are the core conceptual

Hi!

I am an applied math graduate and have studied various subjects, including fluid mechanics, solid mechanics, and numerical analysis. However, I have always been passionate about informatics, and I've discovered that I am most interested in databases (specifically the query engine part) and distributed systems.

I understand that programming languages are tools and that it's important to use the right one for the right job, but for now, I have a deep appreciation for three languages in particular: C, Rust, and Go.

I also have several projects in mind that I would like to contribute to, such as Apache DataFusion, Ballista, and the MinIO object storage. However, I know that I am too much

Richiesta Consiglio

Ciao a tutti,

Everyone chooses their own path to learn data engineering. For me, building things hands-on is the best way to really understand how they work. That’s why I decided to build a toy RDBMS, purely for learning purposes.

Since I also wanted to learn something new on the programming side, I chose Rust. I’m using only the standard library and no explicit unsafe code (though I did have to compromise a bit when implementing (de)serialization of tuples).

I thought this project might be interesting to others in the data engineering community—whether you’re curious about database internals, learning Rust, or just enjoy tinkering. I’d love to hear your thoughts, feedback, or any advice for a beginner

As a complete Rust beginner, the only program I had written before was the classic "Ascii Donut." But because I really wanted to understand more about databases and how RDBMSs work, I decided to try programming a simple RDBMS myself.

Since I wanted to learn something new, I chose Rust. I’m using only the standard library and no explicit unsafe code (though I did have to compromise a bit when implementing (de)serialization of tuples).

I really like Rust, and so far, everything has been going smoothly. I decided to share my project here in case anyone wants to take a look. Thanks for your attention, and enjoy!

I'm an applied math master student. I study CFD and generally FEM theory and application. I don't want in the future to use software for simulation but i want to programming it and generally take care of the software architecture. But i feel that this field is a bit saturated. The CFD and generally CAE software are not so new, so many company exist and it's impossible to take out with new software that overcome other competitors. That the only possible way is to work for an existing company. But many engineer today take the software programming way, and this raise the competition and obiviously lower the salary.
Until a few years ago I thought it was a market in full expansion, now I
