I've been hearing a lot of conflicting information. Some people say the maximum size for a 40 gallon and that a 50 gallon wouldn't work as it's too big. I've heard other people say you can't go too big. So I'm just confused.
not asking for advice, just kinda ranting about my poor hands anyone else dealing with this? at my workplace they stress handling the cages in a certain way, stretching, etc and still I developed carpel tunnel. i really like my job and i just started out and the repetition is killing my body. there's been a few nights where I guess the way I sleep aggravates it and it wakes me up, and I'll just have hand numbness throughout my day.
I work in a lab with mice and I really want to adopt some. I asked, explained that they're healthy and tame, and he said he's not comfortable with that. He is comfortable with other pets. (I have a bird and a lizard.) I'm assuming because most people get icked out by mice and/or he's afraid of them possibly infesting the place. 😢 I really love the mice that I work with and I want to be able to give a few of them the life that they deserve. I even have an empty 50 gallon bin ready for them. :(
if this isn't appropriate for this subreddit just lmk, unsure of where else to post it
I had a general idea of what I was getting into before starting but I have zero lab experience, just experience in dog grooming and working with rodents, birds, fish, reptiles etc in a pet store setting.
There's a lot I need to learn and I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed. I only started three days ago and I won't actually be in the lab until i finish my training. So far it's just e-learning but there's so many SOPS I need to read through and memorize and I'm worried that I might take too long or not be able to fully comprehend them because I'm cramming too much into my head at once.
Does anyone have any
Got some food from this place that me and my boyfriend go to, he has G6PD deficiency. After I ordered I saw that they started carrying soy free tofu made with fava beans and they cook everything on the same equipment. He hasn't eaten it yet and he says the risk is low and should be fine but I don't want to accidentally kill my boyfriend.
I'm starting a new job that's super early so it's not feasible for me to shower in the morning. Whenever I shower at night I wake up super greasy. It's like I hadn't washed my hair at all. My hair is super fine and I'm oily in general. I've tried "training" my hair but I just get super disgusting and I get sores from not washing. I'm not sure if it would be good to use dry shampoo every morning but I don't know how else to control the grease.
I had some and now the adults are mostly gone but there's a ton of meal worms. They were leopard gecko food that pupated but I think they look pretty cool. What is the optimal environment for them? Thanks.
I've worked with animals for the past 6 years but never in a laboratory setting. I have experience working in dog grooming as well as pet store experience working with small mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians, and fish. I would be taking care of small rodents, such as rats and mice, but there's another facility with leopard geckos, sheep and other animals that I may be interested in depending on how it goes at this facility.
Does anyone have any recommendations as to what to wear? And any advice or information would be appreciated. I'd also like to hear about people's experiences as well. Thank you!
