Hey mycophiles,

I’m thinking of streaming about fungi on my nascent Twitch.tv channel, and am curious what sorts of topics you’d be interested in seeing.

I’m currently a post-doctoral researcher at a large public university, and TA’d for both Local Mushrooms and Biology of Fungi during my PhD. I earned a masters related to fungi, too. I have a fair bit of fungal knowledge I can draw upon, but am curious what form you’d most like to see it in.

If you’re unfamiliar with Twitch, it’s a website on which people livestream themselves playing video games. There’s an interactive chat component, and smaller streamers generally interact more with their chat than the big famous streamers with tho

Hey Fatigued Friends,

TL;DR: Do you have any tips for getting back into physical therapy for an injury that needs it, but not over-doing it to bring on a crash? How best to talk to your Physical Therapist about your condition?

Background if you want it: I've had mild-moderate CFS for 3.5 years, and was diagnosed at the Stanford clinic last July. I go through periods of crashing for a few months, being 80% of old normal for a few months and working too hard to make up lost time, and crashing again for a few months.

I took a fall while hunting mushrooms for the class I was a TA for, and hurt my shoulder and broke my leg [really thoroughly](http://scienceismetal.com/2017/03/21/i-am-literally

Hey tired friends,

I saw some other posts along these lines so wanted to offer my experience in case it helps!

I'm newly diagnosed, been cyclically sick since I caught mono in August 2014. I saw a doctor at the Stanford fatigue clinic a few months ago, and after testing my IgG antibodies to some common viruses associated with CFS, I found I had elevated antibodies to cytomegalovirus. So he (eventually! so slow, Jesus) gave me a prescription for Valganciclovir and I've been on that since September 1st. I waited til I got back from my trip to China before starting, in case I reacted poorly.

The first week I felt euphorically happy, because I noticed a sudden, pretty much immediate absence

Hey New Fam,

I've been struggling with chronic fatigue for almost 3 years now, after picking up an Epstein-Barr virus in Thailand. I basically got mono that never went away, and a slew of blood tests over the years haven't revealed anything out of the ordinary (aside from positive for Epstein Barr and wonky white blood cells while I was still super sick in 2014).

I'm definitely not as sick as some people: I have periods of several months of working practically full time before I crash for a few months. I'm never stuck in bed for more than 3 or 4 days in a row. I have low grade muscle soreness but no serious pain from the CFS, though I broke my ankle rather spectacularly in November and th

Long time lurker, first time writer.

I was just rewatching bits of Season 3, and in Episode 4 ("And now his watch his ended") there is a scene with Joffrey, Margaery, Lady Olenna, and Cersei wandering the Sept of Baelor. Joffrey is showing off macabre features like the ashes of Targaryen kings to Margaery, and Margaery makes a comment about how much history is in this place, and how it is a sort of monument to the Targaryens that built it. It was particularly poignant to me to watch that scene again after witnessing the epically thorough destruction of the Sept and the Tyrell family line 3 seasons later.

Apologies if this connection is old hat. I'd read all the books long before the show
