Hello all, I'm relatively new here, but I did a search and didn't find any posts specifically addressing my questions, so I apologize if I wind up asking something that's already been beat to death in this sub.

As the title states, I'm looking to start a private tutoring business in California. I am a full time student working towards a bachelor's degree in computer science, and planning to go to grad school to become a college professor. I have been tutoring calculus for my local community college for just under 2 years, and want to start finding clients and tutoring for myself. I don't plan to bring clients into my home, but rather meet them in a mutual space, or provide the service o

Hello all, as the title states, I received an admissions letter to CSUSB for Fall 2024 and accepted it immediately, as it was my first choice and the only school I applied to. Since then, I had some changes in my life and am going to attend a different university, an online program at a university in another state. I accepted my admission but have not done orientation or registered for any classes yet. I assume accepting my admission counts as intent to register, and I assume I would need to cancel that intent to register. Does anyone know how I might do so, and any advice on unforeseen details associated with this I might run into? I would like to remain in good standing with the school in

Hey all, I am attempting to install NixOS on my laptop alongside my manjaro install with the intent to move fully over to my nix install as soon as I’ve got everything up and running. Well, the issue I am having is that upon creating my live usb to boot the nix iso from, my laptop just boots to a grub prompt, rather than the nix installer desktop. I have tried both the gnome and kde ISO’s, as well as a slightly older kde iso to see if it was an issue on the newest iso. No dice.

I am using a 12th gen intel framework laptop, and can’t seem to figure out why I can’t boot to a nix iso. After a bit of time googling around, I could only find one other person with this issue, back in 2021, whos

Hey all, I have been given conditional admission for fall of 2024, transferring from my community college as an upper division student with an AS-T in mathematics. At the time I applied, I had two extra courses planned to be completed that weren’t necessary for admission at CSUSB, but were for UCR. Now that I am attending CSUSB, I would like to drop those courses from my winter and spring semester as they’re not necessary to qualify for admissions at cal state.

My question is, when the time comes and my transcripts show those classes weren’t taken when my application indicated they would be, will that be an issue? I will still qualify for admission, but my transcripts won’t quite match my

Hey all,

I submitted my transfer application for Fall 2024 at CSUSB on the 14th to transfer into a bachelors program. Today I got an email about my application being received, and immediately another email letting me know I’d been offered “conditional admission”. This appears to be because so far I’ve only submitted my application with my own info, and no transcripts have been sent yet, as well as that I have another semester of classes at my community college before I transfer.

What I’d like to know is was that an official offer letter, assuming I do indeed graduate as I told them I would? Assuming I graduate and qualify, am I accepted? Or will I have to wait and see if a “real” offer co

Hey all! I’ve been looking into split ergo keyboards for a good while, and think I’ve settled on the Chocofi being ideal for my situation. As a joint mission to pick up soldering as a hobby, building it myself seems like the play. However, I’ve had trouble finding any real information on the process at all. From other similar keyboards I’ve got a pretty good idea of what I’m in for, but even finding details about what parts I need is difficult. I notice some needs diodes while others don’t, and things like that. Is there a source for even a basic outline of what I’ll need for a Chocofi build? I’ve got a list of parts like switches, the micro controllers, an order from pcbway for my boards, b

As the title says, im configuring Helix and can't seem to bind the enter key in insert mode. I am attempting to configure helix to allow me to Shift+Enter to create a new line below my current line, without just splitting my current line, in insert mode, as this is a key part of my workflow. Any time I attempt to bind anything to a combination involving the enter key, best example is my current attempt "S-ret" = "open_below" within [keys.insert] it still just acts like I'm only hitting enter, splitting the line wherever my cursor is onto a new line. if I attempt to bind it to something else random, like C-f, it works just fine. Any advice would be helpful, the docs don't seem to mention

As the title states, I sent a gift that never arrived on the other end. I’ve successfully sent gifts to that device in the past, and I’ve double checked that the gifting code is correct still. I sent 12 parts in a row over to it, and none of them ever arrived. Restarted the app a few times, rebooted the device, nothing.

I have since then sent one more part over, and that one arrived no problem. It was just that one group of gifts that seems to have vanished.

Has anyone ever had this problem before? Is there any possible solution?

Hey guys, I am having trouble with the rust language server in helix. I've got rust-analyzer installed, and using hx --health rust shows the rust analyzer as being detected, so it appears that things are configured correctly.

As the title suggests, despite appearing to be setup, when editing rust files I get no rust-analyzer features such as autocomplete for inline error reporting. I've searched around quite a bit and can't seem to find any solutions. The few people I've found reporting a similar issue don't seem to have found a resolution either, at least not one they shared.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

I took my first registry contract recently, and I start next week. The registry approached me and offered me a contract making well over triple what I made working staff at my local small hospital. I found out today they’re putting me in ICU, and I’m curious what I should expected from anyone else out there who has worked ICU as a CNA.

My entire experience is about a year working on a hospital med surge unit, in a very small, very shitty hospital. My new facility is a high end university hospital easily 10x the size. Needless to say, I’m extremely excited and extremely nervous.

I suspect I was placed there due to my experience being entirely acute care, I’m just curious what to expect in

Ever since I was a little kid, I’ve had the ability to “flex” my ears and pop them. They don’t always pop, but it sometimes works. It also makes a mild crackling when I initially flex them. After hearing about this phenomenon, I realize that if I keep flexing, I can indeed hear the rumble described.

Is the rumbles indeed something I can do, then? What do y’all think?

Also do you guys also get the crackles? Can flexing the muscle also pop your guys ears?

Made this when I saw it’s tagged but nonexistent. I intend to start sharing resources here for a variety of developers, from any language that fancies me. The intention is to be a resource for people to learn the general skill of programming, or ask for specific, language-dependent, questions all the same. If y’all have any suggestions moving forward, this would be a great place to drop them!
