I'm a lateral hire and have been posted to Chennai. I've got my onboarding pass with my DoJ being this Monday (16th June) . Couple of questions -
When can I expect CTS to send the link for the session ? My recruiter has confirmed that the initial onboarding is virtual.
Is there an induction program for lateral hires after the virtual onboarding ? How long does it take, and can it be done virtually ? The reason I ask this is because I'm yet to relocate to Chennai so I wanted to know if all the activities in the first week can be completed virtually.

I'm currently working remotely as an unpaid RA (20 hrs/week) and due to personal reasons, my stay outside the US might last for approx 4 months (till May). My Professor is ok with me continuing to work from home.
I am a little unclear about the USCIS rules for working remotely, and would like some clarity :
What's the maximum number of months I can spend outside the US ?
I have a valid F1 visa, I-20 and offer letter. Am I missing something or are these enough ? What do CBP officers usually ask at the port of entry ?
Will working an unpaid job pose any risk while re-entering the US ?
Is there anyone here who has worked remotely outside the US for over a month ?
I am working as an unpaid RA under a Professor and the way things are going, my stay here in India might last for approx. 4 months (till May). I haven't informed my Professor of my plans for extending my stay yet, but I'm pretty confident she will approve it since our work is completely remote.
