Hello,

I have a problem where users are getting stuck in Disconnected mode. The problem appears to happen at random while the users drive around their territory during the day.

A few observations:

  1. OWA works. The problem appears to be isolated to the Outlook client installed on the machine.
  2. Rebooting works. This is not an ideal solution as some users experience the problem several times a day.
  3. We use a Cisco VPN client.
  4. Outlook.exe /safe has no impact. The client opens and stays in disconnected mode whenever we use this feature. This suggests that the problem is not related to the add-ins.
  5. Outlook Connection Status tool shows an authentication error. Howe

Hello,

I am redesigning our network closets/IDFs and would like to take advantage of the 1ft patch cable and up/down patch panel and switch strategy. The main benefit for me is keeping a small stock of pre term cable lengths (and only 1 color) rather than many lengths and colors (which eventually are not followed and add to confusion). I would color code the labels instead of the cabels.

In my environment most of my patch cables do not change after we install then. We would install the permanent stuff at the top of the rack and add all new changes to the bottom U's as needed. If it gets too crazy then adding in horizontal managment would help keep it clean.

As some of you may have not

Hello,

We are trying to adopt an Up/Down patch panel and switch configuration. Up down is great but the reuslt ends up covering up half of the labels in the top row for the cables that patch upwards.

Are there patch panels put there where all the labels are in the middle of the panel? Im not finding any products online with the search terms I can think of.

I have been watching Krond in several formations recently and noticed that he stops attacking after a while. id say he gets the first 3-5 hits off on a wave then remains still until the rest of the wave is cleared.

Anyone else experience this attack delay/bug?

Hello,

Does anyone know how the open faced RFID blocking badge holders work?

I recently purchased a few products from ID Stronghold to help protect my badge. The various websites claim that the open face badge holders work but my experience suggests otherwise.

Here is a product designed to protect against older Low Frequency readers at 125 KHz:

Here is another model that protects against more modern High Frequency readers:

Hello,

I am trying to troubleshoot a strange network disconnection scenario with a few physical servers, cat6 cables and a feed through patch panel system. The servers in question are displaying network disconnection errors around the same time that we have technicians working in the area. We have revisited these areas and "Wiggle" tested all ends of the connections but have not been able to reproduce a physical disconnection event so far.

Anyone have any crazy stories or troubleshooting ideas I could explore for this scenario?

I have tried several strange ideas so far:

- Variations of static electricity discharges (the racks are grounded).

- Remote control key fab

Hello,

I'm new to fiber and recently started to test my fibers with a Fluke VisiFault Visual Fault Locator. To my surprise nearly every strand of single mode has huge faults near the connectors. Even the brand new stuff that we had on the shelf for a few years fails this test. I don't have this problem on most of my Multimode patch cables.

Is it possible I am using too strong of a VFL for this kind of fiber?

Specs on the device say:
Output < 1.3 mW
Wavelength 630-670 nm
Class II laser product

Hello,

I am want to protect fiber cables under the floor with wire loom. The Nylon stuff is great for copper but I feel polyethene (PE) products are more appropriate for fiber to add crush and bend resistance.

Has anyone had trouble with fibers and slit wire loom before? I have a loom insertion tool which should work great for fiber. However, I have never used it with fiber before. I'd hate to run fiber through a slit wire loom only to have the fiber pinched in one of the openings and ruin it.

Hello,

Does anyone have any tips or tricks for testing PoE connectivity on a cable?

We have PoE switches but sometimes the feature is not turned on by default. I'd like to have a way to plug something into the cable and verify PoE is working when I perform my usual data testing from my laptop. Ideally this gizmo would sit in my tool bag for cable repair requests and would save me the trouble of logging into the switch to verify that feature is enabled. By comparison our PoE phones normally pull around 5W.

I tried searching for a pocket sized PoE device but have not found anything yet.

Hello,

I installed a new GPU today, the Gigabyte GeForce FTX 1650 LP. When booting my Dell Inspiron 620s the PC will show the BIOS screen but will freeze and then deliver one beep followed by a long pause. Keyboard buttons do not respond and result in additional beeps or clicks. The old GPU continues to work just fine if I swap it back.

Based on this article from Dell, one beep should be a BIOS/Mobo issue:

Dell Diagnostics suggested that there was something wrong with m

Hello,

Data Center rookie here.

I am researching best practices for cable removal procedures in the data center.

For example, if someone wants to remove a server, what process should they follow to ensure the data cables are properly deactivated before physical removal? There is no good time to have an unplanned outage.

I found a few threads that do not quite answer my questions on the official process of cable removal:

Hello,

I would like to organize the various patch cable lengths, colors and types where I work. Right now they are all thrown into various cardboard boxes on shelves, floors and workstations. I want to organize and easily detect when a certain stock pile is running low. Then we can monitor the stock
to order or make more patch cables at our convenience rather than moments before they are needed.

My first idea was a regular cardboard box separated by file folders with tabs. Users would look down into the box, find the correct color and length then pull out whatever they needed. No need to untangle, measure or check cable specs.

We also have an abandoned 2x5 stall locker. Another

hello,

this vaccume problem really sucks, or it doesnt, whatever results in it not working correctly.

manfac=hoover

model=uh70120 windtunnel

problem=the filter guage jumps to red as soon as i turn it on

troubleshooting= cleaned dirt cup, rinsed out the rinsable filter, replaced the rinsable filter, replaced the 2nd hepa filter, cleaned out the tube near the brush where lots of crud had accumulated, belt seems fine and turns the brush

when i remove the washable filter the filter guage stays clean. this makes me think it has something to do with the filter. but the same problem happens with both the old and new filter. maybe the guage is broken?

any other ideas?
