tl;dr According to the limited information we have now, all apps written for Android M can have access to e-mail addresses of the owner.

Now that we've seen the announcements from I/O, we've probably all heard of the migration to runtime permissions, which allow you to be asked for permissions while using the app, as opposed to during installation (a good thing). What you also might've heard is that it now relies on permission categories instead of the more specific permission model that was used in the past.

Alongside this change, apps will be [given more permissions by defau

Some people were wondering about seemingly disappearing upvotes from the Snowden AMA. I'm a curious guy by nature, so I started tracking the karma over time using Reddit Insight for a bit. (Also cleaned it up in a graphics editor.) Thought the results were interesting. Times are in GMT.

Although reddit submission karma has some interesting quirks over time (especially downward karma corrections every ~120 minutes, I'm guessing removal of fraudulent votes), I'd not seen this one before.

Feel free to repost the picture in more appropriate subs. Posted it here because default subs ban, well, everything and this sub has few rules.

When I print multiple sheets per page from a PDF, they take up an absolutely tiny amount of space, so much so that I'm pretty sure 16 slides could fit on a single side.

What I'd like to do is to have it take into account physical page edges, and just put the selected four slides on the page as large as possible, in landscape, left-to-right, top-to-bottom as seen from landscape.

I'm using Brother's own LPR and cupswrapper setup on this HL-2030.

Is this a common CUPS issue? A Brother issue? Chrome and Okular behave slightly differently (they seem to interpret landscape differently - Chrome orders the slides as visible from the correct orientation, whereas Okular jams the slides on the portr

You're wrong.

Try block selection mode (CTRL-SHIFT-B). Handy for removing rectangles of text. Now try following that up by typing some text: you'll see that the text you enter is entered on every line while your selection is still active. It's like a poor man's macro!

Kate isn't just good, it's amazing due to its accessible interface and rich feature set. No idea if the above is common knowledge, but while I'm no stranger to these kinds of tricks, this was still new to me.

OpenSearch search suggestions are the query suggestions you see in major browsers when you start typing a query in the search box. A search suggestions based currency converter returns the result from the currency conversion in the same area as the search suggestions before going to the search result page.

Google used to do this but doesn't seem to include currency conversion search suggestions anymore.

I'm well aware of websites and apps that do this.

Specs: Chrome 35 on Linux.
