I just signed up for outlier. I indicated which programming languages I am proficient in. I assessed for one of them (and passed?) and then was assigned to a project. The training for the project was in a different programming language, though one that I am still proficient in. After passing the training for the project, I started tasking but I keep getting work in a third completely different programming language that I've never claimed to know anything about... because I don't know anything about it.

How do I get work in programming languages I know? Is there any way to view the available work within this project rather than just getting assigned to the next task with no transparency and

Discord group needs a disclaimer

:25px-Flag_of_Alberta:Alberta

I'm an administrator of a MeetUp and Discord group popular in Calgary, Alberta among people with a certain shared hobby. We've been asked if it is okay for people to share events related to the hobby that are external to our group. I'm considering creating a separate channel to our Discord for sharing events and would like to have a disclaimer to ensure that our group and its administrators are not held responsible for anything that happens at these events or for bad information being shared in this channel.

First, do you think such a disclaimer is necessary?

If so, could you please read over what I have for a disclaimer so far and see if there is anything that is poorly worded or missing?

I hope I have this tagged correctly, since this is neither homework help nor identifying a poem, but I still need help with one.

In Lord Tennyson's poem "In Memoriam A. H. H.", the first stanza of canto 27 tries to rhyme "moods" with "woods" which do not rhyme in my accent/dialect of English. Specifically, I pronounce the vowel of moods as the IPA /uː/ and the vowel of woods as /ʊ/.

Does anybody know how Lord Tennyson might have pronounced these words and whether they would have rhymed in the original reading?

Hey everybody. I'm playing a first-life half-orc fighter solo and have been consistently doing quests 2 or 3 levels above me the entire time. I'm now level 18 so I'd like to be doing level 20 or 21 quests but apparently all 21+ quests are completely blocked from people below level 20 (which makes no sense to me, by the way) and my compendium is only showing a single level 20 quest, The Dreaming Dark. This really sucks because that's not a lot of content to level up from 18 to 20 on and also that quest requires flagging with lower level quests that I have no interest in doing.

Is that really the only level 20 quest? Or is my compendium just not showing the others for some reason?

Please kee

Hey all. My party of 3 level 14s just attempted The Archon's Trial on Heroic Hard (making it a level 14 quest) and we couldn't really damage anybody in the last fight. I saw in the wiki and in this thread in the forums that the boss is supposed to have crazy DR, which she did, but nowhere is anybody talking about how they are all immune to literally every element.

My sword does acid, electric, and cold, but only the slashing and bludgeoning damage was going through (heavily reduced) and my fire breath weapon didn't deal any damage. Our sorcerer on

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but ddowiki and a Google search didn't explain how Lay on Hands works against undead, other than saying it damages them. Do undead get a saving throw against Lay on Hands? If so:

  • Is the save for half damage or no damage?
  • Which saving throw do the undead use?
  • How is the save DC calculated?
  • Since Lay on Hands isn't a spell, does Conjuration DC bonuses affect the DC like for other healing spells?

I'm running into an issue when I click on folders. In the footer, when I have a footer selected, I think it is supposed to tell me how many documents are in that folder. Sometimes this works. I click on Chapter 3 and it says 11 items. I have 11 scenes in Chapter 3, so that makes sense. I then click on Chapter 1 and it says 11 items still even though I have 4 scenes in Chapter 1. I click on Chapter 2 and it says 11 items still even though I have 7 scenes in Chapter 2. It just doesn't update.

But then I click on Chapter 5 and the footer changes to say 6 items, which makes sense because I have 6 scenes in Chapter 5. Then I click on Chapter 1, which has 4 scenes and which, just a moment ago, sa

I am reading through some short stories and I reached "The Naked Lady", originally published in Bell's collection Zero Db. Right from the start I found Bell's use of language to be juvenile and irritating. Some examples of what bothered me:

  • words that should end in -ing are ended with -en, for some reason, instead of the usual -in' for slang use, such as "maken" and "nothen",

  • of is used instead of have or 've, for example in "would of",

  • verb conjugation doesn't agree with the subject of the verb, for example in "we was",

  • and, dialogue consistently lacks quotations and appropriate punctuation: Did you get one, he said.

Keep in mind that the first three of those issues occur in na

Hi r/writing.

I've read a few stories that seem to take a very naturalistic approach to story telling where the narrator gets a little off-topic sometimes or expounds on semi-related details and may end up repeating themself from time-to-time. It always gave me an impression of hearing somebody telling a story naturally rather than it being written with some fixed story-shape like we are accustomed to when reading/writing. One story from recent memory that really stands out in this regard is The Flints of Memory Lane by Neil Gaiman.

So first off, I don't know the best way to refer to that style of writing. Does anybody know if it has a specific name?

Secondly, I am trying to write a stor

I was reading the wikipedia article on musical theatre and came across this phrase. I then googled looking for definitions for the term "frothy entertainments" and found plenty of pages that all use almost the exact same phrasing without giving a definition or examples. Can anybody help me out? What does it mean and what are some examples from the early 20th century? Why would people of the time have felt they needed to take "artistic steps forward beyond revues and other frothy entertainments of the early 20th century" so as to give rise to musical theatre? Hey r/ddo!

I'm hoping you all can help out my daughter. She is attempting a Lesser Reincarnation of a level 3 Dragonborn Warlock. After seeing the NPC in the Reincarnation Grove she is returned to character select, clicks the Reincarnate button next to the character, and is taken to the character creation wizard.

At this point, she hits Next a few times to accept, without changing, the class, gender, race, and path that she had before reincarnation. She then selects her ability scores, skills, feats, spell, and appearance and clicks the button to accept it all. Then, one of three things happens, none of which I believe to be the correct response on behalf of the game.

a) She gets a messa

Hey r/loremasters!

I'm running a heavily house-ruled d20 Modern campaign with quite a bit of borrowing from D&D 3.5 to present a seemingly normal modern world where the battle between angels and demons is real and is spilling into the world again.

The players' first encounter with something supernatural was a Hell Hound. I don't know why, other than I really liked the idea of the newspaper (yes, I made newspaper props) saying that there was some big dog on the loose and other types of rumors that could fly about that. The encounter went well. The party didn't struggle too much and there was good atmosphere building up to it.

The problem is, in the rest of the lore for the game, I spe

Hey r/ddo!

Quick question: if I use a Mark of House Cannith that is bound to account (such as those purchased on the DDO store) will the resulting item be bound to account, even if it was previously unbound?

I'm trying to make a great new weapon for a friend and adding Vampirism to the extra slot would really kick it up a notch but I don't want to put a mark in to test the binding, since I've already put a lot into the item that I wouldn't get back if it does bind it to my account. ddowiki surprisingly doesn't mention, despite their Cannith Crafting documentation being pretty good.
