With the price of Cubans (and hell, they might be hard to get soon regardless) I was just hoping to get opinions from the group about non Cuban brands or sticks to try. I mostly have stuck to Cubans and have found that other countries don't have the same quality of taste over the length of a smoke.

Instead of aimlessly trying, which also is fun, what would you recommend? My favourite Cuban brand is H. Upmann, and prefer No. 2 or sticks around that size ish. Thanks everyone!

After doing a quick search I found three posts on this subreddit about Newfoundland and the Great War, only one was asking about the chances of an episode being made. While I know time is getting short and [spoilers](/s" a German offensive being planned, and Novemeber coming soon.") there mightn't be any time for an episode about the Dominion of Newfoundland's role in the war. I still wanted to make this post to bring attention to the role Newfoundland played in the war, most people don't know where Newfoundland is let alone how pivotal the years of the Great war were to our history.

Newfoundland is Britain's oldest overseas colony, it's an island on the eastern most extreme of North Ameri

On this day 97 years ago a father in Newfoundland received a package of personal items from his dead son, it included one identity disc and one cigarette case. However, his son also had a pair of seal skin boots that his father had sent him. The father wrote the war office upon hearing of his son's death and suggested that the boots be sold and the money used to keep up solider's graves in France.

My question is, how could a solider from the NFLD regiment keep a set of seal skin boots or for that matter larger personal items? The boots are fairly large and would have come half way up the shin. Every solider must have had a locker or trunk but to me it seems like that would have been a huge

So do you guys and gals have anything you're planning or looking forward to for next year?

I am currently reading the Amulree Report regarding the Domion of Newfoundland in 1933. While reading the report it talks of the Bank of Nova Scotia, which I of course knew of, but it also talks about the Merchants bank of Halifax which became the Royal Bank of Canada. I know that both banks were eventually bought out but how did banks from the smaller city of Halifax become the major banks in Canada instead of ones from the larger centres of Montreal or Toronto?

Or am I just wrong in general and in fact other banks in the larger centres were in fact the main banks?

So last night was the first game of the season for our city league. The first 15' my team had possession so I didn't have to do much. After the other team came down took a shot and I blocked it out wide for a corner. They take the corner and my defender heads it out. So while the team is getting set up again one of their strikers pinches me.

I knew I was dreaming do to what he was doing so I just pushed him away. The ref tells me to knock it off, and I said, excuse the language, "He just fucking pinched me, what else should I do?"

To which the ref responds, "Pinch him back"

At this point I didn't know what to do but after the next corner kick the little frigger did it again, and probabl
