Hi!

About a week ago we received some terrible news - my 6 year old cat was diagnosed with advanced HCM. His cardiologist said (and I hope with all my heart that he’s wrong) that it’s a matter of several months before he goes into congestive heart failure.

I am struggling immensely with the news, but I am also struggling to understand how to adjust my lifestyle from now on to care for him.

As per his cardiologist, once in congestive heart failure, he needs to be taken to the emergency care immediately. It is a matter of life or death.
Me and my partner are both working full time in-person. We are not home for 10-11 hours every day, 5 days a week.

I’m so scared every day to not be the

Hi!

I wanted to start writing my cat’s HCM journey for anyone who is going through the same terrifying experience.

I hope this will help someone else’s baby and maybe help to get them diagnosed earlier. At the very least, I hope someone will read through this and realize that they are not alone.

My beautiful boy went for a regular checkup - we wanted to get his vaccines updated and to treat a mild upper respiratory infection- he was sneezing.

The vet prescribed him antibiotics for his infection and listened to his heart. « Gallop Rhythm » she said. What? What is gallop rhythm? She says: « I recommend you to see a cardiologist ». My heart sank.

I went home that day and started searchin

Hi! 2 weeks ago during a routine wellness exam the vet noticed gallop heart in my 6yo male cat.
It was the first time a vet mentioned this and I didn’t even know what gallop heart was.

I went for a second opinion a week later and a second vet confirmed it. They sent a referral to a cardiologist suspecting HCM. We were scheduled for end of October which seems to be too long of a wait for a serious symptom like his?

Is this a normal wait time? I understand he’s not actively displaying heart failure symptoms and doesn’t qualify for the same-day emergency but 2 months between when the gallop was heard and when he will be seen by a cardiologist seems like we are losing potentially precious ti

Hi! 2 weeks ago I (26F) took my cat in for an annual checkup and the vet noticed gallop rhythm.
I was shocked by it as this was never mentioned in any of his wellness checkups before. He also went through anaesthesia last year and he had prior checkup to make sure he is not at risk. Everything was completely fine.

I went for a second opinion to a different vet. It’s confirmed - he has gallop heart.

We are getting a referral to a cardiologist, but the wait times vary from several weeks to a month. We will be getting an echocardiogram which is expensive, but luckily I have some savings.

I am devastated. The vet mentioned it is unlikely that the sound is benign and that it is likely a symp

Denied Hybrid Work

Work/Life balance

Hi all, This is a post of venting. I have been working for this company for 1.5 years and I have been full in-office employee 5 days/week. This has been making my life absolutely miserable. My commute is an hour one-way, which is okayish - not too long, not too short. But doing this every day has been draining me from the start. My job can be performed remotely 90% of the time (except for occasional in-person meetings). The policy of the company allows employees to work 2 days a week from home, which is what the majority is doing. I finally had the courage to ask my manager for hybrid schedule, which was denied. She said this decision was based on her personal preference of her department

I just got off the phone with Telus Customer service and I am enraged! I have been their customer for 6 years. The first deal I got 6 years ago was great with a locked price of about 70-80$/month for home internet (can’t remember exact numbers) After 2 years the monthly price increased to 150$ a month so I called customer service and asked for the cheapest plan they have. They scammed me and offered me 135$/month offer with TV and security camera included. I kept saying that I don’t even have TV and I only need the cheapest internet they have. The agent ensured me that this IS the cheapest plan they have right now, so I signed this option for 2 years! Couple months in I realised they scammed

I (25F) have been with my boyfriend (25M) for 7 years. He has always been unhappy since the day I met him. He hated his college, hated all his jobs, hates the town we live. I tried to understand I really did. I’ve been with him through his identity crisis (that is still ongoing). We still don’t live together because he wasn’t in a mental space to do so. He has now moved in with his parents who clean and cook for him and I don’t see him more than once a week. He says he feels that nothing matters, that his job is draining and he can’t do it anymore. And I have no compassion for him anymore. I also have a job and bills to pay and no support system around me and my life is also exhausting. But

Hi everyone. Some advice here is needed. I (23F) have been with my boyfriend (24M) for over 5 years now. We have had our share of problems throughout the years, but we made it work. The relationship is great overall, but something concerns me deeply. I myself am fully independent from my parents, financially and emotionally, they are never involved in any of my issues (I have great relationships with them and love them dearly but I have built a separate life). My boyfriend on the other hand is still getting some financial support from his parents, he needs their help with bills, getting plane tickets, planning trips, etc. Recently we started talking about moving to his home country (we both
