Took delivery of a new R5 iconic 5 a week ago and whilst I want to love it, it’s been plagued with minor issues….

We noticed a rattle in the dash on day 1; seems to originate from where the dash meets the A pillar trim.

Shortly after noticed a loose rattle when closing the drivers door; since found to be fixing lug for the rubber seal is snapped so the seal is flapping about, and noticeably so when closing the door.

At 400 miles on the odometer, we’ve had an airbag warning light come on.

It was going to have to go back to Renault to sort the niggles but the warning light had just taken the shine off the car…. If it wasn’t a lease car I’d be rejecting it.

Good evening chaps… I hit a dear tonight and will have to make an insurance claim to rectify the fairly significant damage to the front end. I currently have a Bootmode tune on the car and ponder if the car will be scanned (it almost certainly will as the PDC is going to need sorting) and the insurers will detect the tune, get upset and decline the claim.

Am I able to remove the tune from the car before prior to sending it in for repair and would that removable be invisible after the event?

Thanks guys, and do let me know if the question is better posted elsewhere.

Good evening chaps. I have a 2017 f31 340i which has been bullet proof from new and never suffered from oil consumption issues.

It was serviced by BMW whilst under warranty every two years (don’t have a fit guys, this is normal in Europe) and since my service pack ran out, I’ve conducted oil changes every year (around 8000 miles). The car has never consumed oil between services, even when under BMW’s schedule, but today I’ve just had a warning message pop up that the oil level is at the minimum level which has me a little concerned.

I’ve seen no evidence of a leak beneath the car and haven’t noticed a difference in the exhaust so I’m wondering what has happened since November last year

I’m in the middle of redecorating the house and it would make life a whole lot easier if I could drain the primary loop and remove the rads (column type) from the walls so that I can easily prep and paint behind them

In my mind, I see no issue with isolating the combi boiler from the flow and return, draining the primary loop and running the isolated boiler in domestic hot water only mode so that we can retain a hot water supply. Am I ok to do this or am I missing something? Viessmann vitodens 200 if that makes a difference.

Thanks in advance.

Apologies if the question has been asked already but I’m looking to get a dedicated set of winter/all season wheels for our relatively mild winter in the UK.

I currently have 19” staggered rims on my F31 340 (RWD) and I’ve got M-sport/brembo callipers.

Will an 18” rim fit over my brakes as this will open up loads of options (and frankly make it cheaper and a more comfortable ride).

Finally, bearing in mind snow isn’t really a significant consideration over here, would I be best sticking with a staggered set up or is it better to move to same width front and rear to allow rotation front to back (I’m anticipating greater tyre wear on softer rubber).

I gather most people on here are in the states and you guys seem to favour thinner oils but can anyone shed any light on the differences between Liquimoly Toptec 4200 and 4600?

If memory serves me correctly, 4600 has always held LL04 spec but seemingly the new generation of 4200 now has this accreditation, and Liqui Moly seem to be pushing 4200 when using their online “what suits my engine”, not even mentioning 4600 as an alternative.

I’m perfectly happy with the 4600, just intrigued to know why there are two product lines for seemingly similar oils.

Used a lift that is part of a council owned/operated car park. The lift stopped mid travel, called the emergency call button to get in touch with the lift operator who ended up cutting us off after failing to be able to hear us. Called the emergency call again and reported the incident and they said they’d call us back with an eta on the lift engineer. They never called back.

Called the council line (note was present in the lift). The chap was actually very helpful (to a point), who called the lift company on our behalf and came back to us saying they were going to be 3 hours away. I indicated at this point that I was with my six year old daughter and my partner, who is a type one diab

Apologies if I’ve covering something solved elsewhere but I don’t really know how to troubleshoot an issue I’m facing…

I have a 2021 M1 iMac running Sonoma 14.5 and a Synology 918+ running DSM 7.1.1-42962 update 6.

Until recently it’s been working fine with AFP and I’ve had it working with SMB too but all of a sudden, I can no longer connect to the Synology from macOS. It’s still showing on my network as a Bonjour location but can’t connect and connect to server isn’t working with SMB or AFP.

Quick connect via the internet works fine.

I haven’t tried to connect via a different device; don’t have anything else readily available but can try if needed.

Any ideas?

I’m redoing my garden and need to build a small raised section that will sit about 20cm higher than the main level of the garden. It’s only around 8sqm so I could shutter it all in and pour concrete but my preference is to build a small retaining wall and infill with crushed limestone, whack that down and patio over the top.

Can I use low density blocks for this application or would I be better off with a medium density block? I’m not worried about the strength but rather the block being in contact with wet ground and wicking up water. Am I overthinking the problem?

Hi chaps, hoping someone can help me from making a mistake with a set of replacement alloys for my 340i touring (f31).

My F31 is in mineral grey and I’ve convinced myself that a set of matt bronze alloys will either look amazing, or utterly crap… does anyone happen to have a set of Bola B17s, FLYs or Japan Racing JR 38s in bronze that you you could grab a photo and help convince me one way or the other?

My leeks have been hit bad so I lifted the lot today and harvested what I could save. I now have loads of leafy damaged/infected detritus to deal with. Can this be composted or am I best to burn it?

Apologies for my absolute ignorance on such matters but I’m struggling with accessing files stored in my NAS that appear corrupted when previewed and opened via finder. Seemingly the files are fine, and can be downloaded from web access and subsequently viewed in finder without issue, but it would be nice to access the files normally. Has anyone come across this issue and found a solution? The problem only seems to have occurred since updating to Ventura but i can’t say for sure it wasn’t happening prior to update without my knowledge.

Any ideas?
