Zoloft has been a miracle drug for me. My suicidal ideation began when I was 8 years old and everything in life was a struggle. Depression and anxiety were constant over my entire life except for when I was drinking, which eventually turned into addiction. Finally, in my 30's I got into a day program for mental health, started reading a bunch of self-help and mental health type books, and got diagnosed with avoidant personality disorder. I tried a few different medications, until I finally worked up the courage to start an SSRI, which was just a few months ago when I was 43.

The Pros That yawning gulf of misery that had been inside of me my entire life started to go away, even when

r/technology is almost entirely frequented by technologically illiterate people that hate and fear technology of all sorts. Is there a subreddit for tech news and discussion that is for people who like technology?

After close to 14 months of sobriety I had a slip up a couple of weeks ago and drank a couple of bottles of wine. I was really upset that I'd have to "start over" at first, but then I decided that was silly. I was sober for close to 400 days and drunk for one. So now I just say "I'm 14 months sober, less a day." And if I relapsed for a month, I could say "less a month." Having a slip-up doesn't negate all the hard work we do and I think we should always be proud of every single day that we stay sober.

This is a non-standard request so I hope it is allowed. I am going to create an in-real-life replica of Erana's Peace from an old video game called Quest for Glory 1. I just need help identifying the tree that the artists drew in the game. I understand that it may not have even been based on a real tree, but if anyone has any suggestions of a species of tree that looks similar it would be much appreciated. I understand that growing a mature tree can take many years, even decades. I am hoping I can see it grow to a reasonable size within the next 20-30 years.

TL;DR: When buying a home, use a local broker and avoid Nesto and RateHub because they're either shady, incompetent or both.

I had put down my deposit and had a two week condition period to secure financing, which takes 5 business days alone, and also get quotes from contractors and provide them to the lender in order to get a Purchase Plus Improvements mortgage, so two weeks was barely enough time. At this point I had been working with Tom from Nesto (not sure if using last names is allowed) and had a preapproval for the purchase price of the home. In the first week I got the contractors access to the property, and got the last of the quotes from them on the Friday. Tom assured me ev

I missed my day 69 but I'm going to celebrate my day 100 by eating rotisserie chicken with my bare hands like an animal (though I guess I'll probably share with the girlfriend and the dog).

Much less expensive and way more healthy than a bottle of whisky. I will not drink with you today!

I had a really rough morning having to deal with some possible instability in my living situation. I sacked up and had a difficult conversation and everything turned out OK, but I was left feeling sick with stress. I tried so hard to resist but I ended up at the liquor store. After 10 minutes of fighting myself in the parking lot I managed not to go in . Went to the grocery store instead and picked up some ginger beer (it's non-alcoholic soda that is very, very gingery). Now I'm feeling kinda weepy with a weird mix of frustration and relief and also some embarrassment at being weepy. I'm very glad I resisted and part of the reason that I was able to was because of the support I get fro

I just started therapy for the first time after realizing the scope of the neglect in my childhood. Has therapy helped any of you long-term? Any stories of what it has taught you and how it has affected your life?
