So I’ve been out for like almost 15 years.

Had almost no contact with my JW family in the meantime. I just packed up and moved away in 2009.

My mom just texted me and I don’t know what I want to do. She was like “I’m puzzled. Try to remember the good times.” But for me there were no good times after like 30 years ago.

Like, I’m an atheist apostate basically. But I don’t really want to tell her that. Because that would not benefit me and it would break her heart.

I don’t really care about my JW family any more than I care about any humans. I just wouldn’t want to hurt anyone for no reason. And she’s like 80 years old at this point and near the end of her life. I feel bad for my p

2024 Toyota Corolla Cross XLE.

Every time I start the car it’s back to default flat EQ settings, which aren’t exactly great.

Anyone know how to make the EQ settings persist/save?

Thanks!

An adult friend of mine has been on disability for years. Her adopted “parents” have:

  1. Sexually abused her, her whole life.

  2. Persuaded her to voluntarily name them as payees.

  3. Kept her from ever getting a job or moving out with lifelong psychological manipulation.

We just helped her escape that awful house and move in with another friend who will let her live with her for a while until she gets on her feet.

She’s trying to get the money in her disability account to live on while she works on becoming her own payee.

But her “parents” say that they can’t let her access her own money because that would be “illegal”.

So does anyone have any tips or advice about this situation? Are

Ohhh boy.

So I’ve been fully out for like 14 years or so. Married, got a STEM degree, life is good.

Someone who I vaguely knew when she was a kid (and I was in my 20s at the time) sent me some messages, initially copy-pasting JW material, but then started asking questions about my beliefs. I decided to answer honestly and kindly.

After a few more messages I got the sense she wanted to leave. A few more kind and non-judgmental answers and she started opening up more. Turns out she was molested by someone I knew in her family, my own father is one of the elders who is trying to keep her in the cult, she has been suicidal, she just feels so trapped by her family, etc.

I and my wife are

I didn’t realize this until I played for a little while, but you upgrade a SLOT of equipment. Not an individual piece of equipment.

So if you upgrade, say, a ring? Or helmet? ALL equipment that ever goes in that slot is upgraded!

I was saving my upgrade scrolls until I got rarer equipment of the set I wanted. Now I upgraded all slots with all scrolls available, knowing that it wasn’t a waste. And the levels I’m playing are much easier.

We have a loft we’re planning on remodeling on the second floor. It has a bathroom we haven’t used in a long time and recently we’ve been hearing a little bit of thumping around and even a squeak or two.

I investigated and saw a rat tail disappearing into the toilet drain, out of the (long dry) bowl of the toilet. Further investigation led to finding a nest in an open drawer with droppings and shredded toilet paper. (I could find no other droppings or nests anywhere, luckily.)

I blocked the drain of the toilet with some wadded up rags and a 20lb dumbbell. It won’t be getting back it that way, I hope. But I don’t want the rat continuing to get in through other toilets, obviously.

Severe depression and PTSD here. Started on 10mg Friday night.

It was pretty crazy the first couple days on the weekend when I wasn’t working.

I definitely felt more in control. I didn’t smoke or drink for those days (extremely rare for me), and the nicotine withdrawal seems like it heightened the experience. I almost felt like I had what I imagine ADHD is like. Racing thoughts in random directions, but no negative feelings associated with them as is usual.

When I started work again on Monday I felt like little had changed. Procrastination, smoking, and drinking. Though as far as emotional response goes I’m still experiencing less overreaction to stimuli.

But I know it has only be

There are some examples of “the speed of light being constant for all observers” that I can understand.

I have some background in physics, from a degree is electrical engineering (mid-level physics courses, along with higher-level electromagnetics courses).

But I thought of an example that I can’t wrap my head around.

Say there are two pulses of light (infinite vacuum, idealized model and all that), directed towards each other. You, the observer, are between them, already moving at some large fraction of C, directly away from one pulse and directly towards the other.

How can you perceive both pulses as moving toward you at C? If time for you is slowed because of your speed, so that the

I’ve tried to do my own research, but I can’t find a specific conclusive answer.

My question is this:

If evidence of a crime (unrelated to the reason for a specific search warrant) is found during the execution of said search warrant, can that be used as evidence in support of additional charges?

Say the police or feds search someone’s home for evidence specifically regarding an embezzlement investigation, and in the search they find 5 pounds of marijuana (which happens to be illegal in that state).

What happens? Does the suspect get charged with both crimes, if sufficient evidence was found for both crimes? If no evidence was found for the original investigation, will they still be ch

So, he technically killed a bunch of demons all on his own. Not sure what the CRs of the various types were. He also went through significant personal development (by Gilear standards).

Did his level go up? Is that something we know about?

Had high blood pressure and heart rate. Then I started drinking more water. I don’t have high blood pressure or heart rate anymore. Imagine that!

Drinking water is really good for you. I’d always heard that, but I kind of ignored it before now because “I didn’t feel thirsty”. I had maybe a few glasses a day for decades.

Your body is not smart. Listen to your brain and scientific research. Your body will tell you that meth or heroin feel good. Your body is an idiot.

Drink water, even if you don’t “feel” thirsty.

For some reason the Heartless Scat video kept showing up recommended in YouTube, and I ignored it for a while. Then I watched it. Loved it. But I was thinking “I bet these guys are just in the video, they’re not the real band. Wouldn’t it be great if they were the real band?” Then I found out that they are, which made it that much better. Then I binge watched videos from throughout their career, and unlike a lot of bands I thought they got better and better over time, and that they’re at their best currently.

Namahage is my current favorite song.

Anyway. Hi!

Anyone else see this shit? A little after 8am, SE Powell and 104th. Guy jumps on a moving car out of nowhere, hangs on while it swerves trying to shake him off, busts open the back windshield somehow, and dives in! The car kept going and I lost sight of it after that.

I’d love to hear what the hell happened before and after. There were a bunch of people pulled over calling police on Powell, but I don’t see it on the news sites or twitter or anything yet. Seems like a crazy enough thing to be at least a little newsworthy.
