Bought my son a beginner drone recommended here a few weeks ago for about $30. After I lost it on the maiden flight and bought a new one (heh), I handed it over and he's becoming more proficient at flying it around the house and landing it on targets.

What would be a good mid-level drone for him to start to get a little more serious?

Rather than sticking the dashcam directly to my windshield, I was thinking of using something like these:

That way, when I'm not driving I can remove it from the windshield. I'm thinking that this would be a good idea to keep it out of the sun when the car is not in use (preserving device life), and also potential thieves won't se

Hey noodlers,

So it's been a month since automod rules have gone in to help catch and kill spam messages on the sub. It feels like it's made a difference - I monitor the moderator/spam queues several times a day and while there are some false positives I feel like I approve them fairly quickly. In addition, i don't believe that any true spam has leaked through - that or you all reported it and killed it before I even saw it.

So here's what I would like your feedback on: Are you happy with the anti-spam measures/feel like it's working and has improved things around here? Why or why not?

One other idea I'm kicking around is implementing a Flair system for posts, with flags like recip

Hi there! Just a quick note, this was flagged by the automoderator as a low-effort post and will be reviewed by the [r/Noodles](/r/Noodles) moderation team as part of the wider anti-spam efforts. Apologies for any convenience, and thank you for participating!

One of the subs I help mod gets an annoying amount of "buy a tshirt" spam. How do you all deal with Spam posts? The accounts are clearly purpose created, used, and then abandoned so constantly banning them will do little to no good. I've put in place the following with automoderator:

  1. users that don't meet certain account age/combined karma thresholds get their posts hit with FILTER
  2. Any post reported more than 2x get hit with FILTER

Should I be thinking anything else?

All,

Quick update for you. I have been researching Automoderator functions and have put in a place a script that does the following:

  1. Unless an account meets certain age OR combined karma criteria, moderator approval is required (trying this out to make sure it's not too crazy, we'll see if it stays)
  2. If a post is reported as spam more than X times, moderator approval is required for it to be brought back (if we don't have overreporting, I may just set it to REMOVE rather than FILTER)

Please be patient if any of these measures swing the pendulum too far and we have legit posts/posters affected, I will fine tune over time.

Any and all feedback on these or additional measures is

Hi there! I am requesting some help as I have never been a reddit moderator before and the sub I just got those perms on has a SPAM problem. I was thinking of doing the following as a net to prevent most of it:

Approval required to post if the account is less than 6 months old OR has less than 100 combined link/comment karma (unless a moderator). I just aped this from someone else and made slight adjustments, is this correct? Note - I can't seem to get my formatting correct.

Hi all,

Just as an FYI I've contacted the reddit admins and been made a moderator of this sub.

My goal is pretty simple, at least to start: solve the SPAM problem, I find it as irritating as you all do. What form that's gonna take I'm not yet sure, I'm researching options.

Beyond that I don't plan to change things up too much if at all, I like the simple nature of this sub where we just post videos and pictures and that core should stay IMO. I'd love to encourage more discussion type threads (may be home made recipes would be super fun) but we'll see.

In the meantime, keep reporting spam posts and I'll get back to you all.

Thanks!
