The point of this is to talk about how freedom and property rights are a natural consequence of the nature of God that Christians believe in. Specifically, the Holy Spirit, but the Holy Spirit is about way more than that. This is also about the non deterministic (but intelligently calculated) nature of the universe, and human free will is just one of the many ways that this nature shows up in existence.

The intimate relationship between free will, freedom, and property rights:

The point is that because people have free will, they are going to have differing opinions about how to use the worlds limited resources. So the question is how do we resolve these differences without viol

First you have the copyright renewal act to keep unclaimed stuff from falling into the public domain, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copyright_Renewal_Act_of_1992

Then the copyright term extension act that effectively extends them to infinity, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copyright_Term_Extension_Act

Then the DMCA which effectively makes reverse engineering of "copyright enforcement technology" a felony, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Millennium_Copyright_Act

Then SOPA, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stop_Online_Piracy_Act

Then PROTECT IP, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PROTECT_IP_Act

And now it's SOPA 2, https://www.techdirt.com/articles/20130805/12472124074/administration-cant-let-

First, many christian faiths believe in free will, the reasoning for this is long historical, and extensive. However, sanctity of free will also implies the sanctity of freedom. Existence is finite, and it is very natural for people to have conflicts about how to use the worlds limited resources, free will acknowledges and understands that we can make rational decisions to resolve these differences peacefully with universal rules. ie. property rights

Second, the 10 commandments reads like an anti-state manifesto. Do not worship false gods (the state), do not dishonor thyne parents (the welfare state), do not bear false witness (almost every politician in existence), do not kill (like em

Believe it or not, some rich people have already bought a cruise ship, and outfitted it with luxury condos that they can live on year round as the cruise ship floats around the world ...

I thought it was interesting, because there are lots and lots of ways for an enterprising group of people to do the same thing, but much cheaper. Have less opulence, less luxury restaurants, less staff to wade on people, and make things simple and practical and self-serv. The people living on the ship could optionally perform (and be trained to do) many of the roles that employees do, offsetting much of the cost. The ship

While many people have tried to badmouth the word "Capitalism", and others misuse it, I think we should embrace it.

  1. No matter what word we use, people are going to slander it, misuse it, manipulate it, and misrepresent it. Do we really think people trying to manipulate capital markets are going to call themselves "manipulators of capital markets"? Hell no. They will call themselves capitalists. When statists attack freedom for the sake of control, do we really think they're going to say "the government imposed banking cartel failed, so we need more government"? Fuck no, they are going to say, Capitalism failed. Are they going to say "the government spending trillions on medica

What Obama really needs to say is that he needs all this NSA power to spy on regular people so that he can ferret out rich folks who are evading taxes, and that he really has "no intent" to spy on us, but that he just wants the rich folks to pay their "fair share" (which is zero, but to the reddit hivemind that would be infinity percentile on sales, income, and net worth) Guaranteed, the hive mind would do an about-face and return to sucking his balls, 5 seconds flat.

I don't know any ancap that is surprised about this at all, but apparently r/politics is shocked. They shouldn't be, they're the ones who are hysterical about giving the gov all this centralized control over peoples liv

It it just me, or does it seem like Linux setups are becoming a lot harder to manually configure. It seems like not that long ago, you could take a text editor to some very simple formatted files, and set up most of what you want to do simply by editing the files and maybe restarting the related services.

Now days, many things seem to have an extended directory layout with a bunch of files in specialized formats, and the layout is not well documented at all. It effectively forces you to use gui config tools, and you had better hope the gui is not over simplified if you want to do something different or specialized.

Unfortunately, because the state is so large, has stolen so much property and opportunity, has driven so many people into poverty. All too often, we as individuals are forced to depend on them in many large and small ways. So this raises the question of how do we deal with these criminals, and contain the damage they do.

Of course, in dealing with any criminal, many people are forced into dependence. While it is not immoral to be dependent on a criminal, it certainly is unwise. The ideal situation would be to avoid having any dealings with criminals. However, when they dominate the scene, that is not practical or effective. So in dealing with the criminal element, this suggests a

You may have all heard this before, but I saw some posts that indicated that some people haven't, so I thought I would post this.

Supply:

On the supply side of the silver market, it is important to understand that most silver production in the world does not come from silver mines, but comes about as a byproduct of copper mining. As in, the price of silver could go up drastically, and many miners would still have no incentive to ramp up production. Also, even if they did, bringing silver production online takes a few years and tens of millions of dollars, if not billions. So the supply side of silver is very tight, and will remain that way unless something drastic happens. (ps thi
