Hi all, my husband is enmeshed. It's been a long road to realize what is happening. We are currently in a regression phase on his part. We are in couples and individual therapy and I think his therapist is pushing for a breakthrough or something. I'm not sure.

Anyway, I'm VLC with my MIL after catching her talking about me behind my back, in writing, to another family member. She just doesn't like boundaries that my husband enforced after our first year of postpartum. Our daughter is 3 now. MIL doesn't like not being able to tell us what to do and have complete control over our family. Husband confronted her, she played the victim. I tried to discuss it with her via email due to the lies s

My family tree

tragedy (not tragedeigh)

I went through my family tree as far back as I could go. Mostly normal names all around except the British side, one generation that emigrated to the US was a little off. They had 10-11 kids so maybe they ran out of ideas?

We had a Consider, Thankful, and Enlightened. A sibling was Enoch and he seemed like he got off easy.

I would love to hear others historical tragedies.

Eta: check the flair, it's a tragedy not a tragedeigh.

My MIL has been an issue since the baby arrived. Tale as old as time. Well, we started addressing the issues when I was pregnant. Previously my husband had the policy of we see her once a year for 10 days, just grin and bear it and ignore her the rest of the year. It never sat right with me, because she's clearly enmeshed and he just let her assume they were close. But I'm direct, blunt and people know where they stand with me. I just made myself scarce whenever she was around and would even vacation or send them on trips to have peace in my home. I set boundaries with my husband and she was a side character that had no interest in me anyway.

Now my MIL is on a well deserved time out fro

I'm on 11 years NC and honestly, no regrets there. My bigger issue that I'm having in therapy is the guilt I now having about just wanting her eventual death to come sooner. Like, can we get it over with already? I'm honestly feeling the same way about my grandmother too but I'm not estranged from her she's just ancient and still poking the bears, causing drama. I've completely mourned bio mom and all that but she's still a messed up human that is messing up my brother's life and apparently now thinks that we should rug sweep her behavior because I'm having a 2nd baby? She's delulu and has a lot of mental issues from the way my grandmother raised her. None of it is good. But she also lives

This is something my own bio mom apparently said to my SIL but I get the exact same vibes from my MIL.

I'm NC with my own bio mom, have been for 11 years and am now pregnant with my 2nd. I'm visiting family at the moment so I figured she would find out that I'm pregnant again. Unsurprisingly my grandmother told her. Bio promptly lost it on my brother and SIL (she lives with them) about them not telling her, which means my sister didn't tell her either. I can't help but be impressed with my siblings respecting my boundaries.

My SIL and I get along marvelously and she tells me that she was shocked bio mom said "I would be ok with it if bakersmt wanted to put the past behind us and move on.

I'm visiting family (airplane rides away). My therapist and I have been working on my "extreme levels of self control" as she puts it. And my inability to acknowledge any feelings in myself that aren't positive. It's like my brain is Instagram and only shows the positive highlights. Which is good for positivity, bad for processing grief. Which I desperately need to do.

Anyway my grandmother just showed me where it comes from, unsurprisingly I had been blocking it out. My daughter was confused about a situation and started fighting tears while I tried to figure out why she was upset. My grandmother started screaming over me for my daughter to stop and cut it out immediately. Literally screa

Hi all. I'm a STM due in February. My lovely 3 yo daughter is talking about all of the toys she wants to get the incoming baby. She's very excited and also has no idea what this is going to mean for her.

My husband wants to get her a gift from the baby and I absolutely LOVE the idea. I just have no clue what to get her from the baby. She's a girly girl that loves chaos and is a tad spoiled since she's been an only child. We are planning on 1 day a month with each parent for her to help with the transition but that seems to be more from us than from the new sibling.

All advice is welcome!

So there's a MIL package that arrived in time for my birthday. MIL and I aren't on speaking terms but she does know that we are planning a visit to her area over Thanksgiving. She usually sends me a gift. I got pretty angry when I saw the package because her gifts are bad, she doesn't know me. They sit on my husband's work station until he finally gets fed up and tosses them.

I asked my husband about it, he said MIL told him she was sending something for my daughter... On my birthday. Feels passive aggressive so she can be facetimed while daughter opens it on MY birthday.

Thoughts?

Hi all. New here. I have a 3 yo that is in the repeated questions to get her way phase. At least I hope it's a phase, my husband and mother in law did this forever until I came along and started saying "no means no, not try again" or "was my 'no' unclear?" Clearly, it has always been a trigger behavior for me.

I do vaguely remember doing it to my bio mom but it was because if I asked 5-6 times it would turn into a "fine". I'm not the type to ever let persistence turn my "no" into "fine".

Please leave me tips on how to get this to stop. I lost it this morning and actually started yelling at my 3 yo. For context it's been happening for around 3 months 20+/- times a day. It's driving her da

I'm so conflicted at the moment. This is my second trimester, in my second pregnancy. Our first was a homebirth for many, many reasons. However it was also 3 years ago, I'll be 41 when I deliver this one.

My last birth didn't go badly. I didn't really realize I was in labor until I was really far along as I have a high pain tolerance. My husband annoyed the crap out of me the entire time and wasn't the least but helpful so at a minimum I'm hiring a doula no matter where I deliver. We have also moved states so it would be new midwives. The issues that arise last time were that my daughter got stuck so we had to do some tricks to unstick her and in that process I became severely dehydrated b

Lazy side

Troubleshooting/Tips

I'm pregnant again with my second. Successfully breastfed the 1st but my left size was always kind of behind in production. My right side in contrast was an overproducer with a strong letdown. I learned to accommodate for the strong let down but not my under productive side. This led to back problems due to size difference and time spent on each side.

Does anyone have any tips for evening out a lazy side? I don't really mind as my baby was always fed I would love to avoid the headaches and back aches from the favoritism though.

I've been sick for months. In and out of the doctor trying to find out what's wrong. Missed periods, negative pregnancy tests, the doctors telling me it's just perimenopause and this is life now. It's not my first pregnancy so I've been confused that menopause is so much like pregnancy. I'm only 40 btw. .

Cue a positive pregnancy test on 8/1 after months of negatives. I assumed multiples or father along than we thought. The ultrasound yesterday and we are 13 Weeks due in February. My sister "knew it" because the same thing happened to her with her 2nd.

So here we are having a baby SOON. Thankfully, I already have most of the gear from baby #1. I just have to restock clothes and other dis

My MIL started mild and has steadily escalated her behavior to the point that I'm VLC with her. FIL lives with us and helps us tremendously. He annoys me sometimes but he's a great person. MIL abused him the entire marriage and takes every opportunity to abuse him further whenever she can so he avoids her like the plague.

Husband and I never had a wedding so we are planning one. Husband and I are targeting a destination situation as the cost of travel for everyone to fly to us would be the same as everyone flying somewhere together, so why not. We told FIL a while ago and he seemed excited. Renewed his passport, was talking about suits etc.

Last week he asked me privately if it would be

Hi all. I’m the one that was proposing a visit to MIL and other family/friends for thanksgiving.

I provided the olive branch to my husband and he readily accepted with all of my terms and conditions. Our reasoning was that this type of visit (staying in an air bnb and scheduling with MIL while sharing our time with other family and friends that she can’t self invite herself along \*aka boundaries\*) worked with my guilt trippy, manipulative sister so it is worth a shot with MIL. I also have the benefit of escaping to the air bnb if MIL annoys me. My therapist gave me the go ahead as long as my reasoning isn’t sacrificing myself for MIL but trying to find something I can live with for
