I donated a bunch of stuff last week which is what got me thinking on this question. Ladies of fashionwomens35 who work out (and not in your own garage), how often do you update your workout wardrobe. One of the things I threw in my donation pile at the last minute were a pair of really pretty marbled/almost tie dyed Athleta leggings. I realized that I never grabbed for them anymore because they screamed 2020 to me.

On the other hand, I do still wear my two pairs of the Vuori joggers that went viral during the pandemic despite them being just as old and despite people on this very sub telling me joggers are way out. And even more egregiously, I have been wearing a pair of Athleta Trekkie N

I just finished The Terror today and thoroughly enjoyed it. It's been on my tbr for quite a while and at the tail end of a heat wave when I was thoroughly primed to read about a bunch of people half freeing to death, I gave in. Part of the reason I was resistant to reading it in the first place was that several years ago I read The Hunger and really hated it. I read that book soon after listening to a podcast series on the Donner Party and felt like a.) the horror in the book was almost silly next to what the real people went through and b.) the author seemed to play fast and loose with the real life people's characters and relationships in a way that seemed kinda gross.

But since

First of all, thanks to everyone who commented on my linen pants post last weekend. I have a better idea of what I want in a top now. I've been idly looking and haven't found quite what I want, but I have faith that I can make those adorable pants less pj-adjacent.

But now, my just-for-fun question: have you noticed anything trending for summer in your area? Here in Boston, we are just starting to have actual summer weather. I happened to see a youtube influencer say that a white, tiered maxi skirt was THE skirt for summer 2026 and I don't know if it's just because I'd seen that that I noticed, but between last weekend and yesterday evening, I saw at least 5 or 6 women out and about in whit

ELI5: linen pants

Discussion Post

Earlier this spring I bought my first pair of linen pants, brown with beige polka dots, elastic waist, moderately wide legs. I didn't think about how I would style them, because my brain said "you've got lots of brown/beige/neutral tops." My brain failed to remind me that all those tops are sweaters or sweatshirts, not helpful for linen pants, smh.

Anyway, I put these pants on today for the first time with the one beige (boxy hipbone-length) t-shirt I own and Birks. Looked in the full length mirror and thought, ugh, you look like you're wearing pajamas. I put on some jewelry, put my hair up, ironed the t-shirt, and finally did a partial tuck (I KNOW) and at that point decided I lo

My close friend's daughter finally set a wedding date and venue. Late July 2027, yacht club. I started idly looking at wedding guest outfits (I mean, it's only 17 months away, GOD) and sorta fell in love with this business. Except I don't want to pay $700, especially for polyester. They've got some nerve. But much googling later, I feel like this kind of cocktail suit is only found in actual designer clothing. Help! Links to any similarly-feeling outfits in a more reasonable price range would be gratefully accepted. For the record, I'm 63, 5'1 125 lbs.

It's 12/28 so I guess it's alright to draw some conclusions. I set out this year of tracking to a.) see what I actually did wear and b.) with a loose goal of trying to wear everything in my closet 5x. I totally failed in that for summer things, partially because (and I already knew this) I have way too many dressy or dressy-ish summer clothes for my lifestyle and short summer season and partially because I had a stupid injury in May that involved 27 stitches to my left hand which left me out of the gym and feeling sorry for myself and yadda yadda couldn't fit into a lot of my summer clothes until mid September. The rest of the year, though, I think was accurate/typical.

Things I already kn

Hello, friends. It is I, your friendly watches-too-much-"over 40"-fashion-youtube-content correspondent. Much of said content is horribly contradictory so I'm here to get some opinions from some normal, interested-in-clothes, middle aged people who aren't trying to get me to click on a Quince, Loft, or Nordstrom link.

1.) The French or partial tuck. I've heard in numerous places that this is out and we're not doing it any more but I can also show you about a gazillion photos from retailer's sites where there are items styled this way. Like this. I'm trying to get away from my reliance on it so I don't look horr

walk around with a sweater tied insouciantly over their shoulders as a planned part of their outfit?

I dunno, man, I have consumed so much fashion content lately that insists this is a perfectly reasonable thing to do, not to mention super trendy, but I have never once seen anyone do it in the wild. If I'm wearing a sweater, I'm wearing it as it was made to be worn, with my head through the neck hole and my arms in the sleeves, not as a stoopid quasi-scarf. And if I'm wearing a sweater (or let's be serious, a hoodie) as a layer and I get too hot, I'm tying it around my waist like any normal dirtbag.

Seriously, though--I know this is a neo-preppie thing, but it feels like a just-for-the-

Guys, I am on staycation and as part of my rest and relaxation, rewatching The Fall. For those unaware, The Fall is a serial killer show taking place in Belfast Northern Ireland in which the serial killer works as a grief counselor and his wife as a NICU nurse. Seeing as I've watched this before and know the plot, I'm focusing on details I might not have thought about the first time through. In one scene, one of the killer's bereaved clients is relating that she used to be a registered daycare provider, but when her husband went to prison, they took away her license. That seemed kinda harsh; the kids being babysat are in no danger from the guy NOW IN PRISON and they take away the poor wo

Oh, hi. It's me, your "what do we think about x...?" posting friend. Today I'd like to discuss shorts for summer 2025. Specifically, but not entirely, Bermuda shorts and the subset of those that can only be described as jorts.

I am not much of a shorts-wearer myself, but I do have a few pairs, two of which are more bermuda length. One is an ancient pair of black Athleta Trekkie North bermudas, so ancient that unlike the Trekkie North shorts of recent years, they have a knit band at the hem that matches the waistband. I'm not sure these were in style when I bought them or in any year since, but for what are technically hiking shorts, eh, I think they're cute. I also have a giant ridiculou
