I think the title sums it up pretty well but I would like to give some context. I love omegaverse (OV) with protective alphas who adore their omegas, plus all the possessiveness, nesting and heats. I also super enjoy poly (the more the merrier!).

However I really don’t like reading about pregnancies. I’m like this with books involving an FMC as well. So, it makes my book request a tad tricky. I’ve found I can work around the pregnancy side of things if it’s an epilogue baby since I can skip, or if the pregnancy isn’t really a main part of the book, so happens 85% in and there’s no birth scene etc. I do trawl reviews but they often - understandably - don’t comment on the extent of the mpreg

I received an email from Smashwords as to their sale. I thought I’d drop a post on here just in case this was of interest to people. Text from the email:

I’ve been in a terrible slump (my own fault, I burnt out doing too many ARCs late September) and tried to reset by reading some of my comfort reads and sadly it’s not worked.

I’m fed up of reading books where they have sex really early on, then basically continue to have sex every other chapter. Nothing wrong with spice, I’m just not feeling it right now.

I’d like an emotional connection that is built up and then sex occurs towards the end of the book, or it could be a same couple series and sex happens later on.

Some books I’ve liked with this:

{Soulbound by Hailey Turner} the emotional growth of Pat is just chef kiss

{The enemy to the living by Alexandra Keillor} hurt/comfort was o

I’m specifically not naming the book or author as i do not want this to be a rant post. Also once this is ‘out there’ on the internet, you can’t really take it back.

This book has all the hallmarks of AI. I don’t think it’s been fully written by AI but it’s certainly been used to assist. Or, the author doesn’t have an editor… I could probably lop 50 or so pages off easily by just deleting unnecessary sentences.

It’s very repetitive (we had chapters going over the same scene but just from a different character’s POV) plus they’ve constantly used sentences throughout to describe things already said, but just used different wording. It’s also quite flat.

I want to write a review - without us

I’m on the hunt for books where the paranormal MC1 - I’m not fussed if MC2 is also paranormal - is disabled. I’d like this disability to impact their daily life, and we see on page as to how they’re navigating this.

An example would be {the Hunter and his mates by Kiki Clark} where MC1 is a cougar shifter who lost his arm in an attack and had to not only learn how to navigate this in human form, but adapt in shifter form as well. Therapy rep was great in this book. {Beyond the Veil series by KM Avery} is also good although in the first trilogy I’d probably lean towards our disabled MC as being human.

I’ve seen posts where it’s the human MC1 in a paranormal relationship that is disabled or

I know this book is released tomorrow but I saw a few people had read this via ARC on the Friday ‘what have you been reading post’.

The blurb sounds good, but I’m conscious it has SA/DV abuse in it - not between the MCs - and I’d like to know the extent of this on page.

For example I’ve read Rerouting River by this author and that had graphic on page SA, including in effect a rape with multiple assailants. So I had to skip through that scene as it was too much but I really loved the hurt/comfort and how much River grew once he felt safe and secure.

I’m getting the same vibes from this blurb on the hurt/comfort but want to be prepared going into this as to the extent of SA/DV.

I’d like to properly tackle my GR read book lists. Tagging is working for me so far (arranged marriage/bio-kink/daddy kink with or without age play etc) but then I wanted to start moving into fantasy/urban fantasy/paranormal/mafia/college and got stuck.

I’m unsure how to separate out

Paranormal - so this in my mind is vampire/mages/shifters etc

Urban Fantasy - I consider this more world building, so yes could have the above, but also more magic systems in a contemporary environment like {Soulbound series by Hailey Turner}

Fantasy - basically more ‘old world’ society with lords/ladies/knights/princes etc. No IT in effect.

I think it’s paranormal that’s throwing me as it’s kinda a generi

I absolutely love ‘why choose’ poly/spoke & wheel (S&W). I feel like I’ve read quite a lot and wanted to

  1. list the ones I’ve read to help others in the sub locate them, and

  2. see if anyone else has recommendations that I’ve missed

As this is meant to be a list for others to use as well as myself I won’t put any restrictions in. However I ask that when suggesting the book that you confirm the trope (paranormal/fantasy/OV) and any CW such as SA/non con etc. I personally will not read a romance book if it doesn’t have a HEA. However I know some people are OK with that, so please specify no HEA if that applies.

Please note I’m not looking to include MMM as there’s quite a few of these

Hi all,

Just to confirm this is not a ‘should I continue this’ question.

I read the first book and really enjoyed it. I checked the blurb, no reference to mpreg, but confirmed it was a trilogy. After demolishing book. 1 I then went onto check the release date for book 2 and that blurb referenced mpreg for book 2/3. That’s fine, as I’d rather know as I have limits around mpreg.

However, I really liked book 1, the characters were great and the plot was interesting. So I’d like to continue but I do need spoilers on the extent of mpreg. I can normally get on with it if we have an epilogue baby, or it’s the very end of the book. I absolutely cannot read pregnancy sex or books where literally t

I’ve never written a solo review here, and I’m hopeful this will not come off as a rant. I’m just really disappointed in this book. It had great potential but sadly was lacking in execution. For a debut novel it isn’t bad but it isn’t good either, I think ‘meh’ would be the right was to describe it.

I really enjoy a fantasy book, plus here we had a magic system (elemental based) and warriors who prepare to fight off demons, so in theory I thought this would be a winner. Yet it just didn’t work. Nothing happened, and I mean that. Plot wise our MCs, Perian and Brannal, are in the same position as at the start of the book - living in the castle going about their daily lives. There is no plot

So I just recently finished a super unique sci-fi book as an ARC - the blurb was really intriguing about how a relationship could develop between an android and a human - and I realised I rarely read sci-fi. I mainly stick to fantasy (including urban fantasy), paranormal (any supernatural is appreciated here) and contemporary in the form of mafia/murder mayhem.

I’m perhaps missing out so I’d like to explore some more and thought I’d ask here for some recommendations. I have two hard nos - mpreg and non/dubcon. I’m up for any setting - could be on a space ship/alien planet, and have no preference as to whether the MCs are human or alien. I’m really not keen as to miscommunication between th

I’m dipping my toes into incest - with brothers - and I enjoy MA Innes. They always write a great dd/lb book. The Loving series looks good but is 10 books and goes from MM to MMMM by the looks of it - not that I have an issue with that. I’d need to buy them as for obvious reasons they’re not on KU, so before I do I’d appreciate your thoughts - worth it or not? I’m a total softie and like sweet books (praise kink etc) so no non/dub con at my end and MA Innes has always been pretty reliable on that front.

My hard no is mpreg - nothing against it as I know some people love it - but I simply do not want to read books with this.

I’m careful when reading the blurbs/tags/CW for books where this may come up - usually if omega is mentioned. If in doubt I’ll often ask on here however the lovely people who do our new book posts always tag mpreg which I’m very grateful.

However I just read a book - I’m not naming it as this isn’t a rant - where mpreg was not mentioned anywhere; the blurb on Amazon/GR nor the summary content page where CW are normally put. The blurb also didn’t give any suggestion of possible mpreg.

So I was pretty shocked when I got 75% in and mpreg happened. It totally threw me, I

I appreciate this might be a bit narrow but I’m hopeful there might be some books out there that fit this request.

I’d like for MC1 to unintentionally (that’s key) squash MC2s inner joy/spark/light. I’m thinking that MC1 acts in a way that he thinks is protecting MC2 but whilst MC2 may be physically safe, the behaviour of MC1 makes him miserable and unhappy.

The best example I have of this is {Justice by Lark Taylor} I love this book for many reasons - it pretty much made me cry for the last 3rd of the book. Sebastian basically leaves Matty as he doesn’t want to ‘infect’ him with his darkness and ruin Matty’s happiness. He’s doing this to protect Marty. However Sebastian leaving causes Mat
