So I recently updated my trusty old Nexus S to SlimKat. It hasn't been my main phone for a while now but makes for a good 2nd phone (for holidays, festivals etc) and despite being 3 years old it's actually running better with the latest OS than it was on SlimBean (and far far better than the last stock Jellybean version released for it).

That's the nice thing about AOSP and the Nexus range; Even if Google stops supporting an old phone it's relatively easy to keep it up to date and still keep official Google account support.

I got a carrier warning about my data usage and found that Google Services has been sitting there using almost 2 gigs of cellular data in the background.

As a test I enabled the "restrict background data" but then Android Device Manager stopped working, and I'd like to keep that feature!

Is there anything I can use on my rooted (slimbean) phone to find out what Google Services are up to?

Anyone who's gone anywhere near r/atheism in the last few days will probably know they've moved image posts into self-post only to try to prevent karma-whoring.

Of course this has the side-effect that it's much more difficult to preview images now, so I created a quick Greasemonkey script to search self-post content for image links and display them on mouse-over.

It would be much better if Reddit gave subs more control over whether self posts or link posts generated karma, but in lieu of that perhaps RES could add some preview capabilities for self-posts like this?
