Looking for tips for fun and interesting setups for support mercs. I'm playing chains of command and instead of rallying cry or a pure damage setup I'm experimenting with curse on hit.

Running a Kineticist who wears asenath with two extra curse on hit corrupt and a wand with one curse on hit and chance to inflict fire exposure. To support this the merc also has two Doedres damning and hunter chest with additional curse.

Any tips for fun ways to improve this or other unconventional support mercs?

One of the things I like in PoE is to run things in batches.

You roll a few maps, setup your scarabs/tablets and then run that full batch without much stopping. You just dump things that might be valuable in the stash. Then after that batch you can either setup a new batch of maps, take a pause or you do some trading.

For this to be smooth I would love two things:

  1. The small map-device stash from PoE 1.
  2. The ability to mark a route on the atlas. The only thing that would do is to automatically open the input window for the next map on my route.

In many cases there are so small changes that are needed in the campaign for it to feel good again. Just a small increase in loot, damage of underperforming skills, adjustment in area size would do so much.

Explode packs and yellows needing a few extra hits is a good goal to reach for the power fantasy in the end of campaign/maps.

I don't want to explode screens until super endgame gear (if ever) and I'm afraid we are ending up their again to quickly as a panic button.

As supports have moved to another role in PoE 2 with less focus on adding pure damage and more focus on altering the the gems function (with various success).

Would the game be worse off if you had 3 max supports per gem instead of 5? Many supports currently feel like filler and adding fewer you could make them more impactful.

Only reason to keep it at 6-link is because it is iconic in PoE

I think combo skills such as ed+contagion or others have their place but I do dislike that more and more skills move in that direction or worse.

When you do the same rotation over and over regardless of what I'm fighting it is not better gameplay. Me having to use Skill X until mob gets an icon and then I use skill Y on every pack regardless of composition is not engaging gameplay. Or first need to use X to generate something and then Y and Z for super attack that clears the white pack.

Engaging gameplay for me is that I'm using my single clear skill but now a dangerous rare comes so I need to push my defensive skill button. Or it is tanky so I need to for example curse it before I start

People will complain that with the league mechanic always being on they keep dying to impossible packs/bosses or bricking their first maps.

You will have threads asking why GGG did not think of a toggle so you can skip the mechanic if you don't want to interact with it because your character is weak.

GGG implements a toggle day 4

This game really want me to romance someone

SpoilerGeneral Discussion - [SPOILERS]

I know this game is more than fighting and that roleplaying is a huge part of it but I felt from the start that my Paladin (unoriginal I know) was more of a kind straight shooter that is focused on saving the world than anything else.

At one point I felt that almost all my companions, while not saying anything directly, did the equivalent of "You want to come up for a cup of coffee..." and I did a George from Seinfeld with "No thanks, coffee keeps me up at night".

Then the nice skeleton man starts asking why I'm not having sex and then finally even a squid stuck in a gem hits on me.

I guess it is the consequence of keeping all options open in a roleplaying game
