Hi everyone my name is Chidi and I am a registered Spanish Tutor. I am in the testing phase of a project called Fluixe. The idea is for U.S. university students learning Spanish get the opportunity to practice speaking with native Spanish speakers in short, casual conversations relating to topics that they are learning in class. These chats are held on Zoom and last about 15–20 minutes. Everything is online, so you only need your phone or computer to participate. If you’re interested, you can sign up in the link below. Thank you so much for helping me test this project and I look forward to hearing back!

Duolingo Speaking

General Discussion

Hello I am a learner of Spanish and I haven’t used Duolingo yet but have heard that Duolingo has poor reinforcement of speaking skills and doesn’t enable learners to retain and learn tenses after lessons. How do users work around the issue of speaking reinforcement and how do they learn tenses?

Hey! My name is Chidi and I am a Spanish tutor and I want to better understand how students learn Spanish the most efficiently to be able to master and speak conversational Spanish. If you are actively learning Spanish and struggle with speaking fluently:

  • What applications/study formats are you using?
  • How is your current study plan/ application working for you?
  • What would implement or change to help you master spanish conversationally?(i.e more grammar reinforcement, speaking practice, etc)

I am deeply appreciative for any feedback!
