Earlier this month, my building was sold to a new management company who will be taking over from the old company in September. The new contract doesn’t change the rent, but is a 2 year contract. My old contract was technically a 1 year contract that ended this April but the old company treated it as indefinite. The new contract is also asking for a 保証人, which I don’t have and didn’t need with the old company.

I’ve heard that, by law, an incoming rental company has to honor the old contract. Even if that’s true, given the murky contract length the old contract has idk if the new company can just ignore it or not.

We all know how much reddit loves to relate anything and everything the government goes to 1984. Picking up on this sentiment, the bastion of journalistic integrity that is boingboinbg.net posted and article that literally has the word "thoughtcrime" in it. As you can expect, r/worldnews circled up, dropped its pants and commenced the jerk.

Sidenote: We're going to sites called Boing Boing for our news now? What the hell? Their mascot/icon is a fat Pippi Longstocking using a jackhammer. What the Fuck?

The article is about the UK's rationale for detaining David Miranda at

We're all very familiar with the r/worldnews anti-US and conspiracy circlejerks that have gained prominence after the Snowden leaks, but just in case you can't get enough, here's some more!

For context: http://np.reddit.com/r/worldnews/comments/1nm8nr/new_evidence_reveals_fbi_demands_companies/

Basically, the FBI gave Lavabit a court order for metadata on one of its customers (the name was redacted, but the charges are identical to the ones filed against Edward Snowden. Safe bet that it was for his metadata). To my understanding, in order to hand over the metadata, Lavabit would essentially have to compromise all of their users' security due to the nature of their encryption system. Lavab
