Currently have a proxmox machine with truenas vm that has essentially been off since i built it a few years ago because i got lost in samba folder permission madness and busy with college.
Looking to finally get this machine doing something useful. i5-12400, 64gb ddr4, 5 4tb hdd, boot ssd's, a 512gb nvme ssd for games
I want:
a software raid to store all my files
automatic photo backup from Android and Iphone (immich?)
private folders for individual family members
group folder
ability to make a vm if i want to but trying to avoid vms so i dont have to dedicate hardware to it if i dont have to.
game servers for mostly steam games privately to friends (AMP?)
Decided for the first time to try Warrior Difficulty. Im running intellect to try the new mastery perks and ive not run intellect in a few alphas. Its day 10, i have a hodgepodge of level 2 armor. A level 3 baton, and a bunch of pipe pistols and machine guns. For the life of me i cannot survive most tier two poi. Screamers are spawning 2 at a time extremely often even when im away from my base and doing a poi i will have screamers spawn and at that point im doomed. I am absolutely going through all of my ammo ~80 9mm and 100-150 7.62 in one poi fight. After installing battlefield 5 on steam I noticed it won't launch. Did some research and it seems I needed to install the EA app. No problem I thought. Oh boy what a mistake. EA app gets stuck on "preparing game" when launching the battlefield 5 game but not only does the game not launch, my screen freezes. The computer is still running in the background, things like discord are still running if I'm in a voice call but the computer screen is frozen and will not unfreeze. I have to hold down the power button. I have tried the recommended troubleshooting by EA, repairing EA app, clear cache, new nvidea drivers, reinstall EA anti cheat, still the EA app locks up my screen. Not only that though
Does anyone have any experience finishing wood for a high steam shower area? I made a picture frame out of walnut. My plan was to oil it with lindeed oil and then in a week or two when its totally dry put water based polyurethane over it. However now that its done im thinking it will look best with a more natural finish as close to the raw wood look as possible. I also did some reading and it seems polyurethane doesn't like prolonged steam/humidity. Does anyone have a recommendation for a natural looking/clear finish for a steamy shower area?
Ever since building my computer a few months ago i have encountered very rare black screen crashes. It has only happened twice. Once while the computer was idling and just now while playing a game similar to csgo. The computer will have a power led on the case still illuminated however holding down the power button will not turn off the system. I have to cut power to the psu. The first time this happened i disabled expo wondering if it was RAM related. This time it crashed again at stock ram speeds of 4800. So something deeper is going on. I have two datasets on the same pool. I would like to move files from dataset A to dataset B. I think I need to use the mv command however i cant find where in the cli i can execute it. From the web gui i go to shell and then cli. Next i try:
This says it doesn't know the namespace. I did some looking but im lost digging through the documentation on the different namespaces. Is the mv command in one of the namespaces? I know during the pandemic some good ssd's with tlc had their components cheapened to qlc without new model numbers. How do i know which brands or models did cheap out? Would they be back to normal now or are they still shipping with inferior internals? I know the crucial P2 did and i think the XPG sx8200 changed its controller and storage. But what others? Im not sure what brand to trust anymore. I saw a crucial P2 2tb on sale for 150 at newegg but i don't think i want a qlc drive and i dont know which it will be.
