We live in Eastern Massachusetts (coastal town) and just bought a new home that we're moving into towards the end of August. Our agent is suggesting that we wait to list our condo (2b,2b) until after Sept 1, with an open house on Labor Day weekend. She says that the last weekend of the summer is always a bad time for open houses, while people who are looking will come to an open house on Labor Day weekend. We trust her expertise in the local market, but it just makes us a little nervous, because we thought holiday weekends were generally considered a bad time to list. What do you all think?

My wife and I are planning to purchase a house and sell our existing condo. We're trying to figure out the best way to make this all line up if we cannot put selling the condo as a contingency on a purchase agreement.

  • Combined income is $225,000 gross.
  • Current condo should sell for ~$550,000, according to our realtor. We owe $212,000 on the mortgage. So figure that after closing costs/realtor fees, we would net $300,000.
  • We are looking at homes between $800k-$1m.
  • We have $180,000 in various taxable brokerage accounts; all would be subject to long terms capital gains tax.
  • I have $350,000 in a 401(k) and $60,000 in a Roth IRA. I checked the specifics of my 401(k) plan: I can take a

using as a couple?

General Discussion

hello! I've been using Simplifi (and before that Mint) for myself for years now. But I'm getting married this year, we've decided to combine finances, and I'm curious for any tips or suggestions that others have for using Simplifi as a couple.

Particularly interested in those who have "fun money" accounts per person - how do you track that most effectively? We're not concerned about keeping any expenses private from the other person, it's just about accurate record keeping.

Thanks in advance!

Trying to figure out how I can have Sonarr initially download a 1080i if that's all it can find, but upgrade to a 1080p when one is available. I was able to list 1080i as "must not contain" to skip the initial download, but sometimes I want it; and Sonarr just classifies 1080i downloads as HDTV-1080p so it won't list the file as cutoff unmet.

Thanks for any guidance!

Hi, hoping that someone has suggestions. I ported my number from Google Voice to Visible 10 days ago, and the port has fully completed. My phone is working for calls and sms/mms on Visible with my number. But I cannot get RCS to activate. I have tried all of the tips that I've found in searches here:

  • clearing cache/data from Google Messages
  • uninstalling Google Messages (updates) and trying to activate RCS before updating it.
  • removing SIM card, clearing mobile network data, rebooting, and reinstalling.
  • I've waited 24 hours between steps to not have too many requests.

What's left? Should I ask Visible to reprovision my SIM card? Any other suggestions?

looking for existing customer deals

:flair_discussion: Discussion

Hi, I've been a customer at my current address for 7+ years. My plan price recently increased and I'm interested in seeing if there are any deals available for existing customers.

Hi, I'm looking to get a new pair of shoes for my wedding in May. Obviously I have time, but this sale seems like a good opportunity to buy.

I'm thinking that I want the Fifth Avenue Cap-toe Oxford. My fiancee doesn't care as long as I'm not wearing sneakers, I have some derbies already, but I also almost never wear a suit anymore. So my feeling is that this is formal enough to get married in, but also very wearable with a sports coat and dressy jeans, so I'll be able to use them occasionally. Does that make sense?

What color would you recommend? Black is a perfectly good choice, but I feel like a brown or maybe even a red might be more flexible for future wear as well. My wedding suit is

Hi, my partner and I are visiting Ireland in mid-May for a week. Very excited to see as much as we can. I've done a bunch of reading here and other places, came up with this itinerary. We want to see castles, scenery, and have fun, while not exhausting ourselves by trying to do too much. This is not going to be our only trip, hopefully!

I live in the area between the Commons/Derby Wharf/Collins Cove, and in the past two months, there have been multiple power outages. For the 6 years I lived here before then, there weren't any! Does anyone know why this has been happening so frequently of late?* I heard someone blame Verizon, weirdly enough, but I haven't been able to find any information about what's going on. Would writing to my city councilor be of any benefit?

*I understand that this week with snow and wind it was more likely, but many of the other outages have been when there was no weather explanation.
