As is tradition, it is looking like another heavy-snow winter, which means lots of salt, and Shark -Girl-sized potholes (sigh). I can't do much about the potholes, but I do want to try and protect my newish vehicle against the salt, which led me down an undercoating rabbit hole. What I learned is that I strongly prefer lanolin-based protection, and that doing it properly isn't something that I'm confident I can do [well] myself.

I'm here asking for recommendations on local shops that do lanolin-based sprays -- ideally using the B'laster Surface Shield product. If there's no one that uses Surface Shield that, I would be open to Woolwax too. Can anyone recommend good spots to get this

Hi lighting gurus, I have 9-foot strands of incandescent icicle lights that I need l to soon size down in order to finish a section of my roof -- I need about 3 feet more. As it so happens, these strands are divided into three series sections, each around 3 feet, and you can spot the divisions where the wiring goes from 3 wires down to 2.

Would it be safe to cut the strand right at one of those drop points to isolate just one 3-foot section, specifically by cutting off the female end, and then capping the exposed wires with heat-shrink tubing plus some outdoor-rated glue or silicone for waterproofing? I'm worried about things like voltage issues, the bulbs burning out faster, or any fire h

Hi there, I'm curious if anyone has used green water tracer dye to create fluorescence *beyond* water effects like the puking skeleton. For example, has anyone mixed it with water and used that for splatters on concrete or garage walls? Splashed in on table cloths or plastic tables? I'm curious if (1) it still fluoresces when dry (2) if it stains, or if it rinses right off. The stuff fluoresces like crazy, and a little goes a long way, which is why I'm interested.

Hi there, I've been looking for videos walking through a CX-5 (2017 - 2025) oil change that shows the center front jack point that'll allow for jacking up of both front wheels at once. I've been surprised and now a bit concerned because none of the videos show people jacking the vehicle that way. I'm not sure if it's because it's not possible or for some reason people prefer to do one side at a time using the pinch welds at the sides. I have a low profile 3 ton Dayton jack that I believe can handle the full weight of the front with ease, seeing as the vehicle is under 2 tons in total, and with previous vehicles I've always used the center point and then tossed my 6 ton jack stands on the

Hi there, I am looking at getting a Mazda CX-5 and just found out about Cylinder Deactivation. The information and commentary I've seen points to it becoming more widely used in either the 2023 or 2024 models. Now that folks have had some more time driving these vehicles, I'm curious about your experiences. Anyone had it cause major issues? I'm admittedly a bit nervous that Mazda seems to be the only one using this tech -- that's not an encouraging sign in my mind.

Quick background: three local dealers are trading texts and counteroffers with me. I live near Buffalo, so my dealer choices are limited locally b/c I do sorta like the idea of a nearby dealer for service & perks (rotations, some oil changes, etc.) I’m trying to use the dealers’ offers against each other, but I feel like I’m not getting their real bottom number.

Vehicle: 2025 Mazda CX-5 Carbon Edition (non-turbo)

  • Why that one? It's cheaper than the higher trims but comes w/ many of the features I want (Bose sound, leather seats, larger nicer looking wheels)
  • Color: Polymetal Gray metallic (ideally)
  • Add-ons: Black lug nuts & locks, all-weather mats, splash guards front/rear, carg

I've got a few bottles of tequila in the collection at this point, any waaaaaay more whiskey. What I've been reaching for quite often from the whiskey shelves are big double-oaked bourbons; I'm talking stuff that many consider to be over-oaked or have drying tannic oak. I like the balanced stuff too, but as a BBQ enthusiast, I guess I shouldn't be surprised that woody profiles really appeal to me.

I'm curious whether there are popular double-oaked tequila products -- a search didn't turn all that much up, but I might be using the wrong terminology? Even if they're not technically double-oaked, I guess I'm curious if there are any that really have huge oaky profiles?

Here's an example

**Concerns: ** I have been paying a lawncare service to do 4 applications per year over the past 3 years (paralysis by analysis any time I'd try to figure out what mix of stuff to do myself.) However, we just got a puppy this past year who will be about a year old this summer. I've seen various reports of lawncare chemicals harming pets long-term (cancer and beyond) and to make matters worse, my puppy loves rooting around in the grass, chewing on mulch, sticks and anything else he can find. I know it's usually only a few days they tell you to keep your pet off the lawn after application, but I can still see granules long after an application, which means my puppy very likely may ingest so

Hi there, we just arrived in Rincon and am interested in finding a place to try local rums -- particularly the more interesting offerings from Artesano, and any of the higher-aged offerings that aren't crazy priced (like Ron del Barrilito 4 & 5.)

Last year I found a tiki bar closer to San Juan that was fantastic for this, but I haven't been successful finding one in Rincon yet. Any suggestions are appreciated!

I have a bottle of Seelbach's 10y DO and I'm very, very into it. It makes complete sense: I love double oaked products, I really enjoy higher rye bourbons, it's high test which is my jam, and it's 10 yr aged juice contacted from a heritage Kentucky distillery. Check, check, check, and so on.

Can anyone suggest bottles that will drink similarly? Preferably ones that aren't going to murder the pocketbook or be harder to find? It easily beats Peerless DO Rye and Peerless DO Bourbon (and a combo of the two.)

Suggestions don't have to be double oaked of course, but I think it's probably the easiest way to get that type of woody intensity.

Hi there, I'm looking for a slim card holder that opens towards the shorter edge, and has a pull tab ejector for the main card compartment.

Desired features:

  1. Decent quality leather & construction without going nuts
  2. Primary compartment opens towards short edge of wallet (this keeps the cards more secure than if the opening is on the longer edge)
  3. At lease on additional compartment per side (besides the main compartment)
  4. Pull tab ejector for primary compartment (I want opinions on this - my previous card holder was a bit annoying to get at, but I liked how secure it was. A pull tab feels like the answer, but if it's going to be an issue, I can forgo it.)
  5. No plastic windo
