What is this mess

Public Transport

It's a week later, Google have updated their transit map, but they may as well not have bothered:

  • Eastern line still on the map
  • Western line still going to Newmarket
  • No Onehunga-West line
  • No Te Wai Horotiu station
  • No Karanga-a-hape station
  • Dangling E-W line where Karanga-a-hape station should be
  • Completely botched rendering around Waitematā

Do better Google.

So far the greatest mystery of the FTX debacle, apart from where has all the money gone, is why Bitcoin has fallen so little. Perhaps, just perhaps, it is a real asset after all. And if it can survive this crisis it can survive anything.

It would be nice if there were more informed people writing for the papers on the subject. Hats off to The Guardian at least, for publishing Molly White and David Gerard.

Hi there! I'm looking for a compact phone for my partner. We're based in the UK.

Must haves:

  • Compact dimensions (no wider than a Galaxy S21)
  • Good camera array, for both photo and video
  • Good software support - 3 years of security updates (not so worried about major android versions)
  • Decent battery life (average is fine given we're looking for compact)
  • Flat screen (no curved edges)

Nice to haves:

  • Headphone jack
  • Clean OS
  • £400 or less, but we're comfortable at £600

So far we've got the following on the list:

  • Xperia 10 III - £399
  • Xperia 5 III - blows the budget at £899
  • Samsung Galaxy S21 - £599
  • Google Pixel 4a - £349

The Pixel would be the front-runner but for sub-par

Don't want to link to the rumor sites (43rumours and mirrorlessrumors) as they're full of ads and tracking, but the original tweet in Japanese is here.

Translation:

Panasonic "LUMIX DC-GH5M2" has 20.33 million effective pixels, 4K60p video, 3.68 million dots 120fps compatible EVF, DMW-BLK22 battery, size 138.5x 98.1x87.4mm, weight 647g (main unit only), US price It seems to be $ 1697 ($ 2297 for the 12-60mm kit)

Personally, I find this incredibly disappointing, as it looks like this is the "GH5 successor" that was rumoured for 2021. Does this mean no GH6?

Update: This seems to have been fixed in version 17.2. Original post follows.

---

My workflow is essentially; copy to PC -> edit -> export renders -> copy used media (using media management) -> backup renders and used media -> delete originals.

The problem is that recently, the media management tool has been outputting garbage when using the copy+trim option, which means I can't trim the original media without recompression.

The settings I'm trying to use (from File > Media Management):

  • Entire Project (exporting specific timelines doesn't help)
  • Copy
  • Copy used media and trim keeping 25 handles (0 handles doesn't help)
  • Not consolidating multiple edit segment

Update

Landlord held firm on the RPI index rent review clause, so we've requested our deposit back.

Update 2

Deposit refunded. A fair outcome in the end, but more than a little frustrating.

Hi LegalAdviceUK,

I hope this is OK as it's in the realm of contract law and negotiation, but no one is actually bound by anything yet, other than us being on the hook for a holding deposit.

The situation:

We're moving in September and found a flat on Openrent, so we're dealing directly with the landlord. It was listed at £1750 (South London), and we negotiated the rent down to £1700 on a 24-month term, which we thought was fair for the area. It's our
