Hey, I would like to start my journey in non-fantasy, non sci-fi mini painting. I know most people build models and then go on to paint them. What minis do I buy if I only want to paint? Which supplies do I need? Basically, please guide me in the right direction.

Coming from years of crpg experience, I am looking for deep gameplay and tactical choices with well-developed combat systems. Skill checks are one of my favourite mechanics.
