I just saw this r/programmingcirclejerk post "Algebraically, this is just an effect-parameterized endomorphic continuation model for plugins.", and it made me wonder more about the truly functional side of things (beyond basic concepts like function composition, morphisms, etc.).

I am wondering what book(s) would be a good starting point given my background: I did my undergrad and grad work at Purdue Fort Wayne (and taught Algebra as a grad student). Grad-level algebra was absolutely my favorite course (albeit my worst grade), but the only CS courses that I took were th

Does anyone have sheet music or rendered audio for Legacy Indoor? I would love to hear the rendered audio for their Treasure warm-up, which I used to have, but lost. Anything would be great.

I am working on a landing page for an NPM package that I wrote, and I am using the effect landing page as a reference.

Roughly two-thirds of the way down on the landing page is a section where an animation is shown that displays a code snippet with various changes made to it throughout the animation.

I'm wondering what may have been used to make these. Their website is hosted on GitHub, but there isn't any source for the videos, just the MP4 files themselves.

I am finishing up a package that I developed for my electron-react-boilerplate-based app. It turned out really well, and I've decided to publish it so that it can be in my professional portfolio (I graduated recently and I'm job searching).

TL;DR It's a type-aware wrapper for Electron's IPC functions. Channels, request arguments, and return (response) values of these wrapper functions are all type-aware. Hooks are provided for React, which use modern features like use and transitions.

Normally I wouldn't put too much thought into choosing a good name, but since this will be in my portfolio, I want to make sure that I'm not violating any rules, while also choosing a professional, de

I would like to purchase dry-aged steaks for Valentine's Day (two small steaks, or one normal steak...we don't eat much). I have done some searching, but the closest stores that I'm finding are in Ohio. Any decent cut will do; I would just like it to be dry-aged for at least 21 days.

Does anyone have any recommendation of somewhere close? I would like to cook mine bleu, so a >1 hour-long drive back home isn't ideal.

Thank you!

I'm wondering if anyone can provide advice regarding how to plate pommes purée (mashed potatoes) with a pattern on the top. I've seen videos where this has clearly been done, but they don't discuss it, and I can't find tutorials regarding this.

First, here's a picture showing what I'm referring to.

Specifically, I have two questions,

  1. What might they be using to achieve the pattern? My first thought was a patterned cake (icing) scraper, but all of the ones that I can find have teeth that are too wide.
  2. Any recommendations for getting a good consistency of the purée that will maintain the pattern? I weigh the potato flesh, then add 20% butter by weight

My girlfriend and I are going to make heart-shaped ravioli as an appetizer for our Valentine's Day dinner.

Some questions,

  • There are a lot of stamps on Amazon, mostly from name-mangled Chinese brands. Does anyone have one that they recommend?
  • I have seen these made in two ways, (1) such that the filling takes up most of the space and gives a "puffed heart" shape, and (2) such that there is a ball of filling in the center, and most of the heart shape is just the layers pressed together. I would prefer the puffed appearance, but I'm wondering if this method is more prone to issues. Can anyone share their experience with making the puffed shape?
  • I would like to lightly bread and deep

I have started playing some PC games with my girlfriend. To do so, we move my desktop from my walk-in closet (which I use as an office) and place it next to the TV of the bedroom.

My keyboard is a Moonlander, which is expensive (so, risky to move frequently) and kind of a pain to move (and to use on the lap or small table in front of the TV).

I'm wondering if anyone has used a numpad, which seemingly has enough keys for most games. Is this secretly a genius idea?

I started making a 3D mockup of what I'm imagining, but apparently images aren't allowed.

What I'm thinking of is an inclined rail, maybe 30" long, which can hold ninth pans (the small "hotel" pans that are more common in commercial kitchens than in home kitchens). The ninth pans would be used with lids, and store spices, powders, etc. The inclined rail would be mounted on a free wall, or maybe above a countertop if 2.5"-depth ninth pans are used.

I tried some googling but didn't see anything. Has anyone seen something like this before?

I am lucky to have been invited to Revature's webinar, after submitting my resume through their website, and speaking with someone at Revature (just confirming the basics of my application). They told me that the next step is to attend a webinar.

Unfortunately, it only meets when I tutor (as part of my grad school assistantship). I have emailed the person who runs our tutoring center to ask what my options are, but I'm unsure how soon this time-off request will be approved.

If I am unable to attend until a week or two from now, will this be an issue? Is there someone at Revature whom I should contact? I unfortunately didn't think to ask during the phone call about someone to contact if

I am using Meta's oculus-5.6 fork, and when I attempt to package my game via the editor for Windows (a server build target), I get the error "The SDK for Windows is not installed properly." as a pop-up window.

I have followed the suggestions on other posts regarding this error, but they have not fixed the issue. I wonder if this has something to do with the oculus-5.6 fork, since I haven't controlled for this (although I suppose I could build the regular 5.6 build of the engine and try it).

The fixes that I attempted were to install the Windows SDK separately from the Visual Studio installer, and to install the ASP.NET Core 8.0 SDK (also from a standalone executable outside of the Vis

I graduate this semester with an MS in mathematics (I got a BS in mathematics in the spring of 2023, right when things went to shit). After 30 applications, and one interview (two rounds; down to myself and two other applicants), I gave up and went back for my Masters. I thought that if people with internships weren't getting anything after 400 applications, then I had zero chance.

I didn't get any internships. This feels very hopeless. I didn't do anything with math ed, so I don't even think that I can get a job teaching math.

Please give me some direction. I'm so lost. I don't even know which resume of mine to post because my work is so scattered (a grad teaching assistantship, som
