So, the protagonist of the game is named Captain Martin “Walker”
If you look carefully, he can actually be seen “walking” throughout most of the gameplay portions and cutscenes. These developers really thought of everything. You don’t get details like this in modern games anymore.
I just learned that the cameras that snap your picture in every level are save points. I kinda thought it was just random where you’d reset to.
Beyond that, do you think they have a lore explanation? My first thought was that it was Lava Gang/Jimmy watching your progress. But, as beings that live in the void, they might not need to rely on cameras to see what’s going on.
More obvious answer might be that it’s Monogon (and/or Sabrelake) tracking you, seeing as you’re a security threat. Would explain how they know where to send omniprojectors. But they didn’t seem to need cameras for Ford, and again I feel like they’d have more advanced methods of tracking.
