I just got the Akai MPK Mini and I'm running into a wall. I've been searching for videos and tutorials but am not finding what I want. When I make a software instrument track and pick drums, the pads aren't in any kind of order. How do I assign Pad 1 for snare, Pad 2 for tom, Pad 3 for crash etc. I feel like I'm missing something really obvious and I'm hoping it's a simple solution.

Edit: This is for use with drum kits, not drum machine. I like the Logic Drummer well enough for most of my stuff, I just want the ability to do certain things with the same sounds as the drummer like a specific fill.

I'll be in town those days for work. I've never been to Salt Lake City before. I'd love to go see some bands play. I know those aren't the hottest nights of the week to have bands play, so I was hoping someone could help find something for me to do.

I have a Rode NT1 mic and an Audiobox USB. I know its not the fanciest, but it used to work just fine. I haven't recorded anything in a while and now when I record with the mic it sounds like I'm 20 ft away from it. Plugging in a guitar direct into the Audiobox has great signal but the mic is so quiet you can't even hear it without cranking the volume up.

I've tried both inputs, changing the cord and nothing really changes. Is it possible for the mic to go bad just sitting for a couple years?

I just got the Quintessence pedal because it looked like so much fun. I've always loved harmony guitar leads from bands like Thin Lizzy, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Allman Bros, Iron Maiden etc. The videos I watched looked awesome, I could play harmony leads live being the only guitarist. Once I got the pedal I realized that you need to know your modes to properly use this pedal and I've never done that.

I know I should learn the modes, it's on my to-do list. When I play lead my brain interconnects the major scale with the relative minor. So in the key of G I see a lot of the fretboard as EM, in C I see Am.

Just by ear I was able to figure out that I could play the G major

I'm playing Fallout 3 for the first time and was just wandering around DC killing Super Mutants. Ended up going through the hospital and then across the crane to the Statesman Hotel. Took forever to get through all those rooms with all those hulking ragemonkeys. Finally get to the top and there's a guy named Donovan surrounded by corpses. I figured he'd be happy to see me but he started shooting me. A little search on the Google machine says I basically just did the Reilly's Ranger mission without actually talking to Reilly yet. The problem is that since he's hostile, I can't Fast Travel anywhere. So now I have to go all the way back down through the hotel...

I recently picked up a Valeton Dapper multi effects pedal. I've been very happy with it, I wanted something small and versatile and this nails it. I wanted to be able to throw a few cords and this in the bottom of my amp for quick gigs where I wouldn't take my full pedal board. When I put it in there, it stuck to the back of the speaker. That's actually really convenient because it keeps the pedal from falling out and holds the cords back too. However, since it is a digital pedal, should I be worried about the magnet messing with it?

For anyone interested, check these out. They have several options that all look pretty good. They're very similar to the Tech 21 fly rigs, but I'

I had hopes of learning how to fix amps on this thing, but realized that won't be happening any time soon. This was a spur of the moment project that just took a couple of days. I just made it up as I went, so I'm open to any suggestions as I plan on doing this again. It was a fun project and I learned some things in the process.

Edit: Since it was asked on imgur, the amp was fried. My tow truck driving friend pulled it out of a wrecked car and just gave it to me.

I didn't remember to get any "before" pictures, but I did take some along the way if anyone is interested in the process.

My kids (6 and 7) are starting to get into video games. They play stuff like Roblox and Minecraft on their tablets. I'm a casual gamer myself, I enjoy playing but life is too busy to really put much time in these days. I have an Xbox 360 and like open world games and shooters, ie. Assasins Creed, Halo, Mass Effect, Borderlands, Rage, Fable, Mercenaries etc. We also have some of the Lego games that are actually fun.

Can you offer any suggestions for adventure type games that are more kid friendly? I'd love something that could be played co-op. Not opposed to fighting games, but I'd prefer not to have gore and swearing.

I've been a musician for 18 years, but have never really messed with my gear. I was given a Peavey Renown amp that doesn't work. I'd like to try to fix it myself, but I have zero knowledge or experience on where to start. What are some websites or resources I could use to start learning?
