Hi Guys,

Sorry for long post.

Posting here as not sure where else to post it.

Our electricity bills are quite high. Me and my wife are the only ones in the property.

We use AC for about 2 hours everyday. We use 5 star rated Samsung washer twice a week and 9 star rated Samsung Heat pump dryer twice a week.

TV runs for about 3 hours a day with Sub and We have 4.5 star rated Fridge and dishwashing( we run it 3 times a week).

All our washing and drying are done in the evening times after 8pm.

We do not have any other equipment that uses more electricity

My Usage is apparently 1400Kwh.

Also, last meter read was on 22/07 which was 1608. And upon checking now meter shows 1801.

Hi Guys,

Recently relocated to melbourne and having hard time finding job.

I have about 9.5 years of experience in Kitchen as Chef( 4 years as Senior Chef).

Always wanted to do career change and Visa was always an issue. Now having acquire citizenship and studied Bachelors in IT (2019) and recently passed Cert IV in Cyber security, I thought I would have crack at one of those entry level jobs.

I have applied over 300 jobs now. Attached cover letter to each of them.

Most of Them are just very basic entry level like helpdesk, IT support ones.

Why is it so hard to land job here? Also, when week passed, I started to even apply for pick packers, Delivery drivers and even Chef role.

Hi guys,

Finally ended up Buying in Northern Suburb of Melbourne. Interstate move from canberra. Its a brand new house, cookie cutter house obv with habel and color bond roof. Its what we could afford.

We are nervous and anxious. Settlement day was supposed to be on 22nd but didnt happen as gas meter was not installed.

We had booked removals, lease termination and everything. Hence, licence agreement was done on the day.

Our solicitor has been not very helpful, hard to connect to. Infact, we found out about licence agreement through REA when we arrived with all our stuff as permission was granted to leave our belongings in garage.

Anyways, having lived in the house for 3 days now.

Hi all, Currently looking to purchase our first home and looking into Holt area. We looked at a property not huge but good amount of backyard space which I think is enough for our family of 2( no kids yet).

It’s a newer built home.

How is the traffic during peak hours and how would that change when once most of the houses get built around macnamara and strathnairn.

Also, any suggestion or recommendation when buying around this area? Would this be good buy or should we buy somewhere else? We both work around city and drive.

Thank you in advance.

We have been looking to buy property at the moment and seriously looking for about 2 months now. Most of our free time pretty much goes on looking through properties. We have liked few properties, been on few auctions but haven’t been able to secure one yet.

Now, We have encounter this incident twice with REA from certain community. Not going to name or shame as it might turn into something else.

1st Encounter: We inquired about the property and just want to talk about few specifics. But REA was very rude. We couldn’t schedule any inspection or ask for any more details as we were just told to look it online.

2nd Encounter: Today: We saw this newly listed house in Latham and wanted to sc

Hi guys,

We have been saving for past 7 months and have managed to save 80k in our account. Me and my wife no children( not planning for another 4 years). We average about 10K saving each month. Our household income is about $180k. We don’t eat out much and have good spending habits. One of my good friend said he is going to help us (20k) interest free for 1 year. So, We have 100k for deposit right now.

Now, We are on our hunt for property. We have pre-approval of 850k. Planning to do 10% deposit plus 10k extra for solicitor fees plus anything else comes in. No stamp duty for us as it’s under 1mil.

Just wanted to ask for first hand experience. How hard will it be to service this loan

Suggestion/Advice for New Cafe

Hi Guys, Please advise if this is not right place to post:

Me and my partner are looking to start a cafe. We both came from hospitality. I have about 9 years of running the kitchen as Senior Chef and She has 6 years experience as Barista. We have about 70K on savings and both currently hold full time jobs. We don’t own any property.

Can we get business loan?

We are confident FOH and BOH operations and staffing wise.

Now, since we have never owned a cafe or any business, we have a lot of questions on mind.

So, we went to see 1 cafe in Canberra( about 40 people sitting), good size with dedicated prep areas and fridge and lots of storage plus dedicated

IT JOBS

Recommendations

Hi all,

Have been living in Canberra over 3 years and In Aus over 8 years. I have done my bachelors in IT. Over the years, being an international student, I spent my prime time working to pay for my fees and bills. Always worked in kitchen and now kitchen is more like walk in the park.

I tried few years back to look for IT jobs for turned away since most of them required security clearance.

Now, I finally have my PR so I want to start my career in IT. mostly looking toward support or networking. I am personally passionate about it as well.

Only thing is, I have no idea now where to start.

Should I start doing A+ certification, CCNA or do something else? Should I join courses at CIT
