Today I came across some emf protection device on Facebook that looks to me like total baloney. Out of curiousity I looked into it more and their website reads like the description of a Turbo Encabulator and is either over my head or simply made up techno babble.

How it works
Due to its structure and inherent physical effect, the Aires coherent transformer interacts effectively with a broad spectrum of electromagnetic radiation. Moreover, the radiation is transformed into a coherent waveform that is a space-time matrix of regularly alternating maxima and minima, capable of counteracting electromagnetic radiation from external sourc

I'm needing to print some relatively small gears and am shopping around for a new printer. Can the Ender 3 use 0.1mm nozzles?

I'm coming from using an UP 3d printer that I've had for years and that thing has to use it's own software and I've never had the option to screw with nozzle diameters or other fine tuning. Because of this my gears have always been kinda shitty but now I have a project that I really, really want to have small, nice, functioning gears on. I do wonder if I even need to go down to 0.1mm or if a 0.25mm would work just as well?

I want to put a metal band around a glass lens to make old timey style glasses and monocles. I need tips or ideas on how to do this! Anyone got some advice?

I have looked all over on how to do this and so far the closest I've come is using flat, bevel wire to set the lens like one would set a cabochon. I have never done that before and don't have the right tools for it. It seems simple enough to bevel one side of the lens but typically gems are set in a cup with sides and a bottom where as a lens would need a band around it without a bottom.

I did try to make one with some bevel wire, here are the results:

It turned out... ok... sorta. It is accepta

  1. I like how my pieces are turning out but I don't know what to hang them from for necklaces (I only work in copper.) I've been using leather strips mostly but want to mix it up a bit. I have also used chains from hobby lobby but they seem a little, well, cheap looking. Got any suggestions on how I can class it up a little without spending too much money?

  2. I'm watching tutorials of people working with heavier gauge wire than I'm used to (16ga) and they are just diving right in there with pliers with seemingly no concern for marring the wire with tool marks. If I so much as nick a piece of wire it drives me crazy! Is there a way to buff them out or something or should I just not wor

This is a venting post so I can get this out of my system, and maybe it will serve as a cautionary tale.

When I first started my Etsy a few years ago I didn't know what I was doing, apparently, and forgot to turn off International Sales. I am in the US and someone from Italy bought one of my products. I had ended up listing things on my sister's Etsy instead of mine and didn't realize that I had sold the item until a year after the sale!

So, I finally log into my first store after selling something else on it that I did get a notification email about. That's when I see this long overdue order. I was able to refund the cost of the item but not the shipping. Well, since so much t

Well that was a wild ride. I've had a lot of opinions during it but I'll try to keep it brief.

  1. There should be emotional therapy right from the start. All of these people seem to have some kind of trauma and I don't feel there should be any hesitation to get them into counselling. I would call this kind of weight gain a psychological problem more than a physical one.

  2. The Enabler=Dependent dynamic is bizarre and fascinating. The enablers have such a hard time not giving the dependents food and the dependents don't stop asking for it. Often times it seems that both parties are legit delusional about what, and how much, they are eating. Next I'm going to research enablers m

I know reddit loves to dump on Trump, and frankly I do too, but things were sure more interesting when Trump still had his twitter. It's like when a love-to-hate character in a show dies (Game of Thrones) and suddenly the show isn't quite as fun to watch. Biden hasn't done anything near as funny as drawing on maps with sharpie, or rambling, non-sensical twitter posts.

Don't get me wrong, I feel we are all better off (faaar better off) without Trump, but from a purely comedic point of view Trump was the joke that kept on giving.

Today I took apart one of my toys to see how it was powered as it only had 3x AA batteries (4.5v). I was expecting to see a regulator on the board bringing it down to 3.3v but there wasn't one and the places I checked with a meter were at 4.5v. I have been working under the impression that microcontrollers were either 3.3v or 5v so now I'm unsure of what's going in there. There is a COB but everything else on the board that looked like a regulator is just a transistor or mosfet.

Any guesses on how this is working? Are there microcontrollers that can run off the range of power that 3x AAs will provide?

I'm so dumb. Some how I screwed up the math and thought that the Eaglemoss Ecto 1 build was around $500 total but today I found out it is more like $2000! I had to cancel it even though I am six issues deep (about $350.) So now I'm out the money, got a bunch of Ecto1 parts that aren't really good for much, and I don't think I could ever justify restarting the project and finishing it. (Seriously, it took some serious debating for me to spend $500 on a toy, $2000 is just crazy! I could buy a real car for that much!)

So now I'm really, really bummed out :(

There is something about this episode that I need to skip every time. The guy's stutter annoys me. I feel that it is a bit dull all being based on dirty laundry and beds.

What's odd is that a love the other "kid's stories" episodes. Best I can figure is that since they don't make up a new setting for each story it gets kinda stale.

Anyone else have an episode that they intentionally skip over?
