A single roll of tape will close dozens of bags, big or small, at the same time. With bag clips you are limited by the size and number that you have.

You waste less plastic. Bag clips end up breaking and in a landfill. A thin piece of tape made out of paper is better and creates less waste in the long run.

You use up less space in your drawers. Bag clips are oddly shaped and awkward to store and if you have enough of them it can easily take up a whole drawer. A tape dispenser take up a couple of inches on your countertop.

Tape is more versatile. You can use tape for anything but a bag clip has limited usability.
