Blights of Years I cast aside

With three essential Ceramides

Bloom of Rose and Shell of Nut

Drive these Pestilences oüt

Goldenrod, Vera Aloe

Return to Me my pretty Glow

And render Me a Maiden fair

Altho’ I have not washed my Hair

I really really want to make some good shortbread and butter tarts this christmas. What is your favourite vegan butter to use for pastry, in terms of both flavour and texture? Last year I used Earth Balance soy free baking sticks and my shortbread came out just OK. As compared to shortbread with real butter (I will remember the taste forever!!!!), I'd say they end up tasting and feeling less rich and more greasy. In the past I've used butter flavoured Crisco for pie crusts. I prefer that texture, but it tastes like shit. But if you use unflavoured crisco it tastes even worse. But I know there are some new vegan butters out there. If you bake, please tell me what is your go-to?? And any vegan

I have Bell's palsy! Yesterday I wasn't even 100% sure what Bell's palsy was! Just got back from the hospital where they assured me I didn't have a stroke and prescribed prednisone. Apparently there's an association with migraines. Anyone else? Did your face go back to normal?

I feel stupid, I've been having symptoms for a few days but didn't realize something was really off until last night when I was drinking water before bed and it was dribbling everywhere. Looked in the mirror and realized when I tried to smile I looked like Jean Chrétien. Headache, facial nerve pain, and droopy/twitching eyelids are all so common for me I didn't think anything of it. My tongue has even been numb for a

I'm supposed to be eating a high protein breakfast as soon as I wake up every day for medical reasons. I eat high protein in general, but I have never been a big early morning eater, I tend to be quite nauseous in the mornings. So I've come up with a couple go-to recipes, a sweet oatmeal and a savoury oatmeal, both with lots of high protein add-ins. The oats along with lots of nuts and seeds are very filling and I sometimes have to force myself to finish, which isn't pleasant (and I love oats). I have no idea what else to make, short of eating the same foods for breakfast that I already do for lunch and dinner (which would also be too much for my tummy in the early morning, lots of beans and

Hi all. I am a sufferer of chronic migraines and have recently had two atypical headaches that have all the symptoms of cluster headaches. The thing is, I’ve had only two and they were six months apart. I had the first one in March and the second one a few days ago. I went to the ER after the first one and got a CT scan, which was clear. The doctor told me it was probably just an atypical migraine. These headaches both lasted 60-90 minutes. I have never had a migraine that lasted less than 12 hours, and the vast majority of them last 15. I have had hundreds and hundreds of migraines, and I know these headaches were different. But I don’t know if it’s possible to get just one cluster headache

I’ve had migraines for about ten years now that have gone from episodic to chronic in the last couple years. Last night I had a very weird headache. It came on suddenly. Usually with a migraine coming on I can continue to function for a few hours. Within five minutes of noticing this headache last night I had to go lie down. The pain was terrible, on the left side (the same as about 80% of my migraines) but I noticed it was more in my neck and face as well as where my migraine pain usually is in the top of my head and my eye. I also noticed that my left nostril was completely blocked. I was preparing myself for 15 hours of hell, but about 90 minutes after it started, it completely disappeare

Small Victories

I've been trying to go vegan for seven or eight months. For a while I wasn't accomplishing much except making myself feel guilty for cheating in certain situations, and stressing myself out. Even though I've been vegetarian for years there are a lot of things I didn't think would be so difficult. Christmas and other family gatherings, trying to go out to eat with omnivore friends and there being nothing vegan on the menu, resisting free food from work, really really missing cheese pizza. I've been angry at myself because I felt like if I continued cheating occasionally it would mean I would never stop craving dairy. But I guess it just took some time to ease myself into the idea. I'm not sur

I've been a barista for a few years. I've recently moved to a city with a more developed coffee culture and started working at a shop that takes coffee more seriously than other places I've worked before. Our signature espresso contains a bean that is very bright, citrusy and acidic. When I dial in, I try to somewhat mute this acidity to make a more drinkable espresso that tastes balanced and sweet to me. I've noticed that when some other people dial in (including my manager) the acidity is more apparent in their espresso than in mine, which creates a kind of sourness that punches you in the mouth at first sip, then fades into a more balanced drink. It's not bad, but I definitely prefer my e

So in the room to the northeast of the lab, I noticed some spots where glowing tiles appear, but I couldn't get onto them from the conveyor belts. I think there are four in the room, two on each side. The same secret tiles appear elsewhere in hotlands and lead you to the art club. Anyone know anything about this?
