So my dad, an extra class, is about to move into an assisted living facility. He's going to have to give up just about all his gear when he moves, and I'm trying to soften the blow.

One of the things I'm considering is moving his ic 7300 (and his 1,500 w amp) to my house and setting it up for remote operation. I'm a general and have never really been interested in hf, but I'll get an extra ticket to help the cause. I see that icom has their own remote software, but there are some 3rd party packages as well. Any preferences?

I live in a hot climate so now is the time to do anything outside so I'm looking for direction for antennas.

He has a bunch of longwire antennas that I'm not go

A friend gave me an old, rusty vise. Using 3 treatments of home made evaporust and some effort I've gotten it all cleaned up, and now I need to refinish it. In it's current condition it starts showing surface rust in less than 12 hours.

I want to mask off the moving parts and coat the rest of it, then unmask and lube the whole thing.

What can I use to coat it that will last? Part of me says a couple coats of spray pain, but I'm wondering if there is something more durable.

I don't have access to power coating, although that would seem like a good idea.

I'm looking to get a "dash cam" for a non-tour goldwing. I want something that I can set up and basically forget about it. I don't want another screen, but do want some sort of remote where I can mark video to download later. Being able to take still photos would be a plus.

I've narrowed it down to these two, but if there's an alternate suggestion I'm certainly open.

What's the comparative quality of the Innov vs Vantrue? The apps? Other features?

I've read that downloads, from either of them, are slow. Pulling the SD card every time doesn't seem like a good plan either. Oddly, both seem to require you to leave the bike powered on to complete the download.

They also both seem to nee

I just acquired a 21 Goldwing and I'm about to start travelling again (it's been several years). I've got plenty of tools at home, but I'm seeing what I should take on the road with me.

I have a set of 3/8 drive metric sockets, a plug kit and air compressor, a couple screwdrivers and fuses, and some pliers and wire.

I could load the bike down but I'm curious what everyone thinks are the essentials.

When I list all my stocks there is now one at the top of the list that is just an 8 digit number. It shows 1 stock with a zero value. When I click on it to get the "quote details" it just gives me an error.

I don't recall ever buying 1 share of a stock, but it's possible.

Is this just someone that went out under? Is there a way to find out what company it was?

I'm about to buy probably my last bike and I'm looking at one of these. I'm easing into retirement and plan to do a lot more traveling. My current trips, when i can fit them in, are about 10-14 days at a stretch. I live in Texas but have been doing my vacation riding mostly in Spain, but as my work winds down I want to pick up my pace of week-ish long trips around the US. I will be riding primarily by myself.

The RT looks like fun, but I'm concerned about maintenance and operating etc costs.

The GW seems like the big boy on the block, and the 8 year warranty can't be beat, but not sure if I'm quite that retired yet.

I've ridden mostly in the Colorado and Arkansas areas, but want to g

I've have a few gallons of evaporust that I've been using to treat some rusty angle iron. I made a tube from 4" PVC and I've been putting a few pieces at a time in overnight to clean them up.

The last couple batches have been taking longer and not coming out well at all. The evaporust is basically black now too. I tried filtering it but didn't get much out of it.

Is my evaporust just worn out? Is there anything i can do to get it working again? Or is it time for another bucket?

I'm looking to do a meal prep of about 100 lunch and dinner type meals to be eaten over the course of 3-5 months. A few a week would be moved from freezer to fridge and then heated up from there. I'm looking for suggestions for meals that will still taste good (and have a good texture) after spending that much time frozen. Diabetic friendly meals are a plus.

I have a Bluetooth enabled device on my air conditioner (micro air soft start). When the air conditioner is running I can connect to it with a phone app and pull a standard set of data from it (start up current, running current, number of starts, etc).

I can only ping the device when the air conditioner is running and I'm in range, so it's hard to collect data. I would like to set something up that will look for the device once a minute and, if it's on, connect to it and pull down the data. I'm looking for some direction on how to accomplish this.

I've got some raspberry pi's available that I think (think...) would be a good place to start.

I think step 1 would be monitoring the conne

So, I went to buy some cheap stocks ($2 range) and typo'd and got some warrants instead ($.20 range). I had no idea what warrants were but researched them after my mistake. I'm willing to hold on to them, but I can't figure out when they expire. I'm also not clear on what price they will allow me to purchase the stock at if I choose to exercise them (I think "today's price" but I don't know how to exactly determine that, or go check in a few years).

I'm having no luck at all getting info from etrade. Any pointers?

I'm just getting started as a hobby level welder, and have no plans to go any further with it. I'm looking for a welding supply shop that doesn't mind dealing with someone that isn't a pro or a big business. I have a couple small argon tanks that I'll need to get filled (I own them and they both have brand new hydro tests so I'd rather not exchange them, but I'd be fine with dropping them off and picking them up another day) etc.

I'll also need some smaller amounts of supplies and consumables, and I'd rather deal with a supply house than amazon. I've contacted a couple places and, the one that returned my call, wasn't really interested in dealing with me.

Location isn't that important.

I have a 125 cf bottle of argon at home and recently got a 40 cf bottle that's a whole lot easier to transport (and it's aluminum). I'd like to be able to (partially) fill the 40 from the 125. I know it won't completely fill, and it'll do even less the second time, but I won't need more than maybe 30 minutes of gas when I use it. Is there a hose available with the right connectors on the ends to do this? Would there be a reason to run it through the regulator on the 125? Other than needing a bit of a purge when I start, and going slowly, is there anything else that should be done?

I use my GoPro hero 9 on my motorcycle and I've had great results. The video is great and the horizon leveling works pretty well (usually...).

The current burst speeds create way too many pics that are almost identical. I'd like to find a way to do a "slow burst" of still pics, something along the lines of 1 pic every 1-5 seconds. This way when I'm coming up to a good stretch of roadway I can trigger it and it'll (more slowly) capture a series of pictures along the road.

I have the GoPro remote mounted to the handlebars and I can change modes and trigger the camera pretty easily, but it's not somewhere that I can home down the button while I'm riding.
