I’m an only child, so my best friend is my daughter’s “Auntie.”  She doesn’t see Auntie as often as she used to, but when she does, she lights up and Auntie is the only person in the room in her mind.  Auntie has been battling breast cancer for 5 years now and her battle is slowly coming to a close.  She will probably pass sometime between November and February.

My daughter is almost 15 months old and has already had a few people disappear from her life without explanation (child-free friends who decided they couldn’t continue a friendship with us post-parenthood and a nanny who decided to not return after having her own son), but she was younger then and I’m not sure she really noticed

Hello macro gurus!

I have a macro written to change some formatting on a document, but I need to apply the formatting changes to pages 2 and greater. Page 1 needs to stay the way it is currently. There are a lot of documents that this macro will need to be applied to and their lengths will vary. Because of how many documents there are, doing it by selection isn't ideal. Page 1 ends with a section break. Is there a way for the macro to detect that break and apply only from that point forward?

This is my macro so far:

Sub FormatPaper()
    Selection.WholeStory
    With Selection.Font
        .Name = "Times New Roman"
        .Size = 12
    End With

I am... not fashionable. At all. And I'm cheap, and I like to be comfy. But I'm going to be starting a new job soon in an office that's a lot more formal than what I'm used to (I used to work in a jeans-and-t-shirt kind of office, and while my new office isn't a "suit" kind of place, it's business dress) and... I need stuff to wear. I'd like to get as many outfits as possible on a ~$300 budget.

Pertinent details: Age 26, average height, 190 lbs and I carry it mostly in the torso, I have almost no hips, large bust--I'm right in between normal sizes and plus sizes. Size 16/XL in pants, tops, and dresses usually. Lacking hips and with all my weight in the middle, skinny cut pants do NOT

For my job every quarter, we prepare an excel file that ultimately demonstrates the following. Note that we account using cash basis (I know this is technically "wrong", but it's the way I have to do it for various reasons).

  • Total assets on the last day of the previous quarter (matching the balance sheet from QB on that date)
  • All income and expenditures (which matches the "Net Income" of the QB profit & loss report for the quarter)
  • Total assets on the last day of the most recent quarter (matching the balance sheet from QB on that date)
  • Theoretically proving the following formula:

(Balance sheet total assets from previous quarter) + (most recent quarter's income) - (most

I simply don't know the syntax to do what I want here, but I feel like there's a way to do it. Please help! I currently have a macro written by someone who's not in our office anymore for each employee in my department to hide certain columns on their quarterly time workbooks (we have to track our hours very accurately, this was the most efficient way we could find for our small department to do it). I would like, when I run the macro, so also insert in cell L2 on Sheet4 their name. My current macro:

Sub Elizabeth()

    Dim s As Worksheet
    For Each s In Sheets
        If s.Name = "April" Or s.Name = "May" Or s.Name = "June" Then

            s.Columns("B:G")

I'm planning a big cooking & freezing day on Saturday. Going to make a large batch of burritos, some personal-sized pizzas, chicken tenders, and a few lasagnas, but I want some new recipes :) What are your favorite things to make and freeze for quick meals later?

A friend of mine is looking to make the move to our beautiful city ASAP, but I know it can be tough for a non-native-Charlottesvillian who didn't graduate from UVA to get their foot in the door around here. What qualities are you looking for in a new employee? Any suggestions of companies for an experienced mySQL database admin/ web dev to apply to?

I usually work smaller projects, but took on a throw blanket as a gift for my mother-in-law this Christmas. As I'm rounding the corner of finishing it (halfway through my last ball of yarn!), I think this blanket is really going to need blocking for the pattern (a lace/cable mix) to shine through. I've blocked plenty of smaller pieces and some larger pieces in natural fibers, but never one quite so large and acrylic. The last thing I want to do is ruin this after it's been such a long project. Any suggestions would be great!

I'm editing the minutes taken at our last Board meeting. There was a discussion of a grant that may or may not be approved 3 weeks from the time the meeting was held. Minutes are generally written in the past tense. Thus, how to form the following sentence?

  1. The Board agreed that if the grant is approved, which would be announced November 15, they would discuss their next steps at the next Board meeting.

  2. The Board agreed that if the grant was approved, which would be announced November 15, they would discuss their next steps at the next Board meeting.

  3. The Board agreed that if the grant were to be approved, which would be announced November 15, they would discuss their nex

Planning a blanket for my mother-in-law and looking for a yarn that fits some rather specific criteria, so I come to the ladies and gents of r/knitting for suggestions and recommendations. Help please!

  • Yarn must be non-animal based (she's allergic to nearly every wooly thing out there). So that limits it to cotton, bamboo, acrylic, rayon, and blends thereof. No blends involving any sort of animal hair.
  • Despite that, yarn must be pleasant to knit with. A lot of acrylics itch my fingers when I'm knitting and I'm going to be working this for a looong time.
  • Aaand despite that, yarn must be relatively inexpensive, and ideally available for purchase in larger skeins. It's going to tak
