Both my sister and my grandma on my mom’s side have BPD. They act extremely alike and it’s honestly gut-wrenching.

My mom and I are the opposite of them, we’re relatively normal and have led decent lives with good relationships and stability.

I have a baby daughter now. I’m so scared she’s gonna end up like my sister and grandma - no friends, paranoid that everyone is out to get them, aggressive, imploding their nuclear families by destroying their own relationships with husbands and their kids, jumping from a million different jobs constantly, the neverending lies.

How can I make sure my baby never ends up like this even if she has been unlucky enough to get the BPD gene?

What app/program do you wish existed?

Teacher Support &/or Advice

I feel like I wished I had something to help me organize IEP data when I was teaching full-time.

(I'm bored and learning how to develop programs in my free time now that I'm about to give birth and not teaching full-time. Maybe I'll get inspired and actually make one of these apps one day!)

I (27F) have a rather unrelated combination of undergrad degree, grad degree, and work experiences and not sure if and how I should bring attention to it in the future. I feel like my work history makes me look super ADHD/flaky/not committed to one thing, when really, I was just young and didn't exactly know what I wanted to do.

I received a Bachelor's in music when I was barely 21. I did well and taught lessons at a music academy while in school, but I really didn't have many plans for after college and realized I did not want the life of a professional classical musician full-time. I've provided music for a few friends' projects and volunteer sometimes, but that's about all I use that d

I’m 27F looking to make a career change in the next 1-2 years. I am going to be having a baby soon, and my husband and I are in a good enough position that I can be at home with the baby for at least a year if not longer, and I would like to take this time to possibly learn skills that will get me a better job in a few years without having to go back to college.

Possibly relevant info:

  • I earned a master’s degree in communication and worked in PR/marketing

  • I then felt called to become a teacher and taught English/Journalism for 3 years at a Title 1 school. Great experience, but it broke my heart and burnt me out too much. Would love to possibly explore a career in edtech

  • I am inter

tl;dr: Do bootcamps exist that focus specifically on backend dev, and if so, are they even worth it? I have found a few that are through colleges/universities, but they are pretty expensive. There's so many bootcamps out there it makes my head swim to try to figure out what's worth it or not.

Extra background info about myself: I am 27 years old and fortunate enough to be in a position where I will be able to stay at home for at least 1-2 years without working full-time. I earned a master's degree in communication, worked in marketing/PR, then switched to teaching high school because I felt called to it. However, I'm extremely burned out by teaching and do not want to go back. I wa

Is it worth trying to get into back-end development if you do not have a degree in computer science/years of experience?

If someone had a year (of full-time learning, not working) to start from scratch and learn independently about back-end development, what would you recommend? (or is that not enough time?)

Anyone else?

I've got a good chunk of middle and ending chapters drafted/fully fleshed out, which have come MUCH easier than the first three or four chapters. Actually, I did have the first few chapters drafted out, but I absolutely HATE them now and am going back and rewriting most of it.

It's funny because I'm an English teacher and I always advise my students to save the introductions for last when writing papers because, "how can you introduce your paper when you don't even have the paper yet?!" And now I feel like it's definitely coming true for me with fiction writing haha

Yesterday, my MIL very suddenly rubbed my belly upon first walking into her house…..I was very surprised and caught off guard and just stood there frozen like the SpongeBob caveman meme (because honestly she’s usually not too touchy-feely).

It was awkward because I’m 15 weeks and I really don’t have a belly at allll so I just felt like she was rubbing my bloated belly full of gas LOL. I honestly don’t mind people rubbing my belly IF THEY ASK FIRST and I think I’ll like it more later on when I have an actual big baby bump. But yesterday, I was so bloated and gassy I felt like she was just gonna rub a fart out of me.

Next time it happens, I shall fart.

Baby Names

14 weeks preggo and struggling with girl names! (We don’t know the gender yet)

Which sounds better to you?

EDIT: I had no idea this would be so divisive!! Aaaaaaa much to think about!

I’m so so relieved to be (mostly) over like 6 weeks of horrible nausea and food aversions to everything except soup and smoothies.

But now, suddenly, I can eat a full breakfast, lunch, snacks, and come home and STILL be super starving 😩 I’ve even been craving more “adventurous” foods (aka not boring bland stuff) like poached eggs and seaweed. It’s like my body is trying to make up for all the lost calories!!

I’m expecting my first baby in November (don’t know gender yet) and am struggglliing with girl names!! I have probably about 10 different top contenders for boy’s names but really the only girl’s name I am ok with is Grace.

My husband has been very much go with the flow with all the names I suggest. Literally says “yeah I like that!” to every single one. Which would be great except it doesn’t help me narrow it down haha!

The only name that I think he really likes because he brings it up every single time is some variation of Oliver/Olivia/Olive. Like when we talk baby names he’ll say “Isn’t Oliver or Olivia on the list?” when they never were - not sure if he subconsciously really likes t

I’ve never done a whale watching tour nor do I know anyone who has so I really have no idea how rough the waters get on those! I was reading FAQs and some tours said it’s a perfectly comfortable and safe ride for pregnant women, others said pregnant women should not go on the tours. Anybody with any experience here? 🐋

(If it makes a difference, this would be in Seattle)
