Might seem like a weird question, but have you ever been REALLY into a work of fiction, or a genre, or even a person (podcaster, lets players, artist, etc…) but for whatever reason aren’t anymore, and you get this weird sense of sadness when thinking “man I was really into this, but I can’t see myself seriously going back to it”?

I don’t just mean out growing things you liked as a kid, just, losing interest gradually or even abruptly. It’s like bad nostalgia. Maybe there’s a foreign word for it.

I should also say, and ask if anyone else is like me, that I’m on the ASD and over the years I’ve had many “Special Interests”, and for me those can shift really fast from one to the other. And

OK this is as much a question but also a bit of a rant. Cause I was replaying Bioshock 1 for old times sakes (and wow can you tell its an early PS3 game, not dissing it though, cause they did a LOT with very little) and oh boy(o) the WYK twist feels undercut by the fact that Jack doesnt have much of an opinion about it.

Im not saying the silent protagonists are inherently invalid as a trope; but it just really puzzles me as to why devs will put their protagonists in scenarios where in-universe the PC should have an emotional reaction but then just doesnt.

I’ve always been interested in checking out Critical Role because the people running it seem nice and funny, in the clips you can see online… but there’s like 1000 hours of continuous content stretched over 10 years, and there’s a ton side campaigns, some of which I believe are hosted by another DnD group (Dimension 20, another DnD company who ALSO has a backlog that could power you thought the desolate post-apocalyptic world if not for your glasses breaking)

I feel even worse now because I’ve been watching a standalone series of them – Candela Obscura – which is only (“only”) about 12 hours long now ever four episodes, and yes, I discovered that I would in fact liked to get into it… but yo

Please look forward to my gritty reboot of beloved children’s cartoon How to Train Your Dragon, now with a ton of unneeded murder, cursing and fucking. Only available in Netflix, first season next fall, second season in 2033 – please be aware that 6 months after unexcepted series cancelation season one will be removed from Netflix and no longer be available to stream anywhere in the internet

Hello, I like to play as Ireland (or “trying to unify Ireland” to be more accurate) and Ive gotten into my head the idea of recreating the old Celtic (insular, not gaulish) religion via the usual method of creating a new faith by spending a ton of piety – although of course in universe it would just be a branch of Insular Christianity. I’ve also considered messing around with the files to create one from scratch but that sounds rather intimidating to be honest. It would be more complicated than just “correcting” some stuff that bugged me about the base game, that’s for sure.

I know there’s basically…. nothing written down about pre–Christian Britain’s religion that could be considered 100-

Spoilers I guess, for the dozen or so of you that have watched Disney’s Strange World (like seriously, I watched on an empty theater, that’s pretty sad)

There is a scene, in which the characters must descend on a floating ship towards the “world at the center of the earth” near the very begging of the film. It’s the main named characters, accompanied by a ship crew of minor characters, one of which is piloting. They get attacked by wyvern-like creatures, one of which breaks through the window and pulls the pilot out, forcing one of the main characters to pilot the ship the rest of the film.

And the dude is gone. He is eaten on-screen. He is guano now. It was honestly shocking to see suc

Is that they didnt even bother with the first Silent Hill game for the ps1. Not only is it weird to start out (and finish, really, as Im damn sure they wont touch 3) with 2 and call it 2, not even "Silent Hill: [Insert Subtitle]" its also tacitally admiting that SH1 is undeserving of attention. And it should get more attention and love, it just rubs me the wrong way

I don’t believe there is such thing as a perfect game, or film or book, etc… There’s always room for improvement, or new perspectives or angles (which don’t even have to objectively improve the art, just be different but equal in quality)

Now Silent Hill 2 is pretty great game, its very well put together and succeeds both in telling a story, setting a mood, and being scary. But I do think there’s a couple of things that if I were put in charge of the whole project, I would think, would actually justify the endeavor

As a pre-rant: Its bad they called it Silent Hill 2. They should have either called it Silent Hill: [insert meaningful subtitle] or just bit the bullet and remade SH1 first. I

The first ever “scary” game I ever played was… Monster House for the PS2. Don’t make fun, it was actually kinda freaky. It had a lot of atmosphere and the gameplay was pretty alright. I was so proud of myself for beating it without my dads help when I was 12. Specially because I also distinctly remembered always having been too scared to go to Misty Island in Jak and Daxter ha ha ha.

In fact, I played the game before I ever watched the actual movie and it ended up not liking it because they spent all of 10 minutes in the actual house

Next game scary game I remember playing... Silent Hill 1 for the PS1. So yeah, but of a jump (off a cliff)

As some of you may know, there’s a side series of games from the Sims 3 era called Sims Medieval, about a the sims in a high fantasy medieval world. In this fantasy sims world there is an analogue of the Catholic Church called the Peteran Church and there is a song associated with, called exactly that. Here is a link to it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Cj9jweQtVU. The sons is a simlish version of the real life medieval song "Ja Nus Hons Pris" Its a very lovely song.

Now, there’s this serial podcast "Mythology" of the Parcast Podcasting Network. It’s a standard audio-book format show in which a narrator and some voice actors act out episodes

I dont know if some of you might remember, but some time before/right after The Eternals came out, there had a been a lot controversy in certain spaces of social media (twitter) in regards to the character of Phastos played by Brian T Henry. I dont know how it came about but as many of you might now, Phastos appears >!in a scene related to the atomic bombing of Hiroshima!<. But for some reason there where a lot of "rumors" or "misinformation" for lack of a better word that had people believing and beign outraged at the fact that Phastos >!had activaly something to do with the atomic bombing and/or worked on the Manhattan Project!<. There was a lot of half serious half joking offe

I think its axiom of life that most long running shows (and some not so long running…) WILL eventually get bad – the Seasonal Rot trope is a manifestation of the entropy of the universe.

So, in series that you overall like but eventually saw a dip in quality or had a bad ending that retroactively ruined it (… you know what I’m talking about) what is the point in which you would say “hey check this out, but just know that it gets bad after X”

My go to example is the Vikings show, it just ended earlier this year so I won’t post too many spoilers. Its pretty universally agreed by fans that out of the 6 seasons (actually more like 9, because seasons 4, 5 and 6 where twice as long as 1, 2 and
