I received a 1099-K from PayPal comprising three transactions- two of which were class action settlement payments and one which was some cashback from online shopping. I believe all three are effectively rebates/non-taxable.

I'm a bit confused by the new un-numbered question at the top of Schedule 1: "For 2024, enter the amount reported to you on Form(s) 1099-K that was included in error or for personal items sold at a loss."

Reviewing the 2024 Instruction 1040 https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/i1040gi.pdf (page 84), it suggest to use this field for personal items sold at a loss, and 'incorrectly' shown payments. The thing is, these were in fact

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for some gear recommendations to get my feet wet with a bit of programming and automation. I work in A/V operation and do a bit of engineering but I don't have much formal programming experience (I've hacked things together here and there). I've taken Extron's Control Professional class but I don't have any gear at home yet to experiment with.

For home experimentation, I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good model 4x2 HDMI matrix switcher with control port(s) to get started. I can figure out which control processor later if not included in the device.

Must have:

  • 4+ HDMI inputs

  • 2+ HDMI outputs

  • separately routable audio (de-embedding a plus!)

Over time, Microsoft has released Spectre-related microcode updates for Intel processors as far back as Haswell. BIOS updates are the only permanent solution, but a Windows patch is a decent stopgap.

However, upgrading to the April Update (1803) removed this patch and left you unprotected (unless you have permanently updated the microcode through BIOS).

Today, KB4100347 was brought into this world, allowing folks on 1803 to patch again. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4093836/summary-of-intel-microcode-updates

In March Microsoft released KB4090007 with microcode updates for more recent Intel processors. A new version was just updated today to include processors as far back as Haswell.

My understanding is (someone correct me if I'm wrong on this) that the Microsoft patch sideloads the microcode on OS boot, and doesn't permanently write it to the processor. You need an OEM's BIOS update to accomplish that.

We are implementing a few systems to protect our service from fraudulent activity to ensure that MoviePass is sustainable for the entire community. As part of this initiative, we will soon begin testing some new safeguards.

Starting over the next few days, after you purchase a movie ticket with your MoviePass card, you will need to upload a photo of your ticket stub. This photo needs to be uploaded before you're able to purchase your next movie ticket through MoviePass. You'll be prompted to submit the photo of your ticket stub through the MoviePass app. This feature will help us better track user behavior and ensure that subscribers are abiding by our Terms of Use. I have two different devices, a DIN-CENCN-2 Cresnet bridge (connected to a C2N-SDC drape controller), and a CEN-CI3-3 card interface, that seem to be fighting with each other. The card interface has C3-COM3 cards in slots 1 and 2.

When one of the devices boots up, or intermittently thereafter, it kicks the other device offline. When the CEN-CI3-3 is knocked offline, the Slot lights on the front of it turn from solid to blinking. When the DIN-CENCN-2 is knocked offline, its NET light turns from green to red. Power cycling one of the two devices brings it back online and knocks off the other.

The Pro3 or Crestron network itself seems to confuse the two. Rarely
